Novel complex gratings with third-order group-delay variations for tunable pure dispersion slope compensation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We present a novel tunable dispersion compensator that can provide pure slope compensation. The approach uses two specially designed complex fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) with reversely varied third-order group delay curves to generate the dispersion slope.

P wave dispersion and maximum P wave duration are associated with renal outcomes in chronic kidney disease. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
P wave parameters measured by 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) are commonly used as a noninvasive tool to evaluate left atrial enlargement. This study was designed to assess whether P wave parameters were associated with renal outcomes in chronic kidney ...

Improvement of a land fragmentation measurement model based on natural surface elements and road network

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science, 2022
Land fragmentation is one of the most important factors hindering the mechanization and scale of agriculture. To further alleviate the negative impact of arable land fragmentation, a more accurate model for measuring arable land fragmentation is needed ...

The Impact of Dispersion Slope on Fiber Nonlinearity in Ultra-Wideband Optical Communication System [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We investigate the impact of dispersion slope induced phase-matching on nonlinear noise for wide-bandwidth signals. To ignore the third-order dispersion, its product with 6-times the bandwidth should be less than the second-order dispersion, as for ...

Dispersion controlled highly nonlinear fibers for all optical processing at telecoms wavelengths [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We review our recent progress in the development of lead silicate glass fibers with high nonlinearity and tailored near-zero dispersion at telecommunication wavelengths, encompassing holey, all-solid microstructured and W-type fiber designs.

Wideband Fixed-Beam Single-Piece Leaky Wave Antenna With Controlled Dispersion Slope

open access: yes, 2023
Leaky wave antennas (LWAs) have been widely investigated for wireless systems because of their simple feed, low profile, and easy integration. They typically have a dispersive traveling wave leading to beam squinting behavior, which can significantly ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Study on Fire Smoke Distribution Characteristics in Mountain Spiral Highway Tunnels

open access: yesApplied Sciences
In previous studies on tunnel fires, researchers primarily focus on the impact of a single factor on smoke dispersion characteristics in tunnels, neglecting the combined effects of multiple influencing factors and their mutual interactions.
