Negative plasmon dispersion in 2H-NbS2 beyond the charge-density-wave interpretation

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2016
We examine the experimental and theoretical electron-energy loss spectra in 2 H - ${\mathrm{Cu}}_{0.2}$ NbS _2 and find that the 1 eV plasmon in this material does not exhibit the regular positive quadratic plasmon dispersion that would be expected for a

Dynamic dispersion-slope compensator using a single-element tuning technique

open access: yes, 2007
We develop a simple tuning scheme for dispersion slope compensation with fiber Bragg gratings. A dispersion slope tuning range between -12ps/nm2 and -3ps/nm2 is demonstrated within a bandwidth of ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Influence of Bed Variations on Linear Wave Propagation beyond the Mild Slope Condition

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
As water waves travel from deep to shallow waters, they experience increased nonlinearity and decreased dispersion due to the reduced water depth.

Single Feature Extraction Method of Bearing Fault Signals Based on Slope Entropy

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2022
As an entropy representing the complexity of sequence, slope entropy (SloE) is applied to feature extraction of bearing signal for the first time. With the advantage of slope entropy in feature extraction, the effectiveness of bearing fault signal ...

Chromatic dispersion profile optimization of dual-concentric-core photonic crystal fibers for broadband dispersion compensation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Chromatic dispersion profile of dual-concentric-core photonic crystal fibers is optimized for broadband dispersion compensation of single mode fibers (SMFs) by using genetic algorithm incorporated with full-vector finite-element method.

Relationship between the dispersion slope (DS) and liver stiffness measurement (LSM) in the control group (n = 10) and patients with FALD (n = 27).

open access: yes, 2022
The correlation efficient (r) and P-value were calculated using Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient (a). Relationship between the dispersion slope (DS) and central venous pressure (CVP) in the control group (n = 10) and patients with FALD (n = 27) (b)

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Large-Temporal-Numerical-Aperture Parametric Spectro-Temporal Analyzer Based on Silicon Waveguide

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2019
The parametric spectro-temporal analyzer (PASTA) system has been demonstrated as a flexible tool in single-shot spectrum measurements, especially for ultrafast non repetitive phenomena with arbitrary waveforms.

Interactions between Activation and Repolarization Restitution Properties in the Intact Human Heart: In-Vivo Whole-Heart Data and Mathematical Description. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
BACKGROUND:The restitution of the action potential duration (APDR) and conduction velocity (CVR) are mechanisms whereby cardiac excitation and repolarization adapt to changes in heart rate. They modulate the vulnerability to dangerous arrhythmia, but the
