Crack embrittlement displacement fields

Optics and Lasers in Engineering, 1990
Abstract When using precracked fracture toughness specimens to study liquid metal embrittlement is has been necessary to estimate the crack length and applied load as a function of time. These parameters are sometimes difficult to obtain and accuracy is often questionable.

Mass displacements in quadrupolar field analysers

Organic Mass Spectrometry, 1993
AbstractThe influence of different instrumental parameters on the mass displacements observed in an ion trap and a quadrupole mass filter was investigated. In ion trap measurements it was observed that isolated ions (obtained by both ‘apex’ and ‘two‐step’ isolation methods) show the same mass displacements determined in the usual mass spectra; isobaric

The Field Displacement Isolator

Bell System Technical Journal, 1956
A nonreciprocal ferrite device (field displacement isolator) has been constructed with reverse to forward loss ratios of about 150 in the region from 5,925 to 6,425 mc/sec. The forward loss is of the order of 0.2 db while the reverse loss is 30 db. These results are obtained by using a single ferrite element, spaced from the sidewall of the guide.

Displacive phase-field crystal model

Physical Review Materials, 2020
A phase-field crystal model that spontaneously undergoes displacive phase transitions is introduced by explicitly studying a two-component two-dimensional square crystal reminiscent of a perovskite. When the intercomponent free energy is a simple polynomial, the crystal undergoes displacive transitions in the $\ensuremath{\langle}10\ensuremath{\rangle}$

3D Displacement Field Around a Deep Excavation

2021
The movements around a deep excavation in urban environment is one of the main design issue to be addressed. Various tools are available and they are categorized in different approaches. The first one, the semi-empirical approach, is based on empirical relations between displacements and simple geometrical parameters such as the depth of the excavation

Sculpturing on Discrete Displacement Fields

Computer Graphics Forum, 2002
A displacement field can be defined by a vector field and a height field on an orientable surfaceS, describing the direction and the amount of displacement to be applied toSin order to get a surface represented by the displacement field.Stogether with the vector field can also be considered as a representation of a volume by a ``surface crust''.
