A fast incremental approach for accurate measurement of the displacement field
A fast method for accurate measurement of displacement field that combines template matching and differential techniques is proposed. This method, which is able to deal with the problems of non-rigid object movement as well as large inter frame ...

Electron transfer between complexes III and IV in S. cerevisiae mitochondrial membranes
Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in S. cerevisiae mitoplasts is limited by complex IV catalytic capacity, rather than two‐dimensional cytochrome c diffusion. At physiological cytochrome c : supercomplex ratios at salinity equivalent to that of 20 mm monovalent salt, activity is maximized, indicating that this low ionic strength accurately mimics

Speckle pattern modulation for high-resolution displacement measurements
For digital image speckle correlation (DISC), a novel approach is introduced where an ensemble average over multiple different speckle patterns is calculated.

We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Meta-device for sensing subwavelength lateral displacement
Accurate transverse displacement measurement is essential for precise mask-to-wafer positioning in lithography. While lateral displacement metrology has achieved nanometer-level precision, the limitations imposed by coherent state and grating challenge ...

Protein aggregates threaten proteostasis and cell health. In human cells, Hsp70–J‐domain protein‐based disaggregases remove aggregates, but how they assemble remains unclear. Our biochemical findings show that DNAJA2‐ and DNAJB1‐containing disaggregase scaffolds enhance luciferase aggregate targeting, and that Hsp70 recruitment by both J‐domain ...

Identification of orthotropic material properties using displacement field measurements [PDF]
One of the main challenges in composite design and development is to be able to compute the damage state at any point of a composite structure during a complex loading, especially to predict their in-service global mechanical behavior.

Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
