Analysis of Load-Settlement Curve Based on Load Transfer at Pile-Soil Interface
A field pile loading test was carried out on the Peshawar–Karachi Motorway (PKM) project in Pakistan to show the settling mechanism of bored pile foundation in pulverized soil and the force characteristics of frictional resistance at the pile-soil ...

Investigation of lateral load resistance of laterally loaded pile in sandy soil [PDF]
Investigation of the lateral load resistance of pile is made by laboratory model test on single and group piles. The experiments are carried out with varying size, spacing of piles in group and length to diameter ratio (L/d) of the piles.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Set-up effects of piles in sand tested in the centrifuge [PDF]
The bearing capacity of piles increases over time. Research has shown that this is caused by an increase in shaft friction combined with a constant or only slightly increasing base capacity.

Horizontal transient response analysis of single pile considering local separation of pile and soil
Based on the Novak’s thin layer element method and the theory of radiant stresses, the radiation stress solution to the displacements of pile and soil in the Laplace domain is derived.

The Peierls--Nabarro FE model in two-phase microstructures -- a comparison with atomistics
This paper evaluates qualitatively as well as quantitatively the accuracy of a recently proposed Peierls--Nabarro Finite Element (PN-FE) model for dislocations by a direct comparison with an equivalent molecular statics simulation.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Experimental Study for the Behavior of Anchored Sheet Pile Subjected to Cyclic Load in Sandy Soil
Excavation deeper than about six meters is restricted by the application of sheet pile walls with anchors. This paper examined the effects of different parameters on anchored sheet pile walls under a lateral cyclic load ratio (CLR) of 10% and several ...
