Obstetrics and gynecology devices designed for low‐ and middle‐income countries: A narrative review

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, Volume 169, Issue 1, Page 71-80, April 2025.
Abstract There are many barriers contributing to poor health outcomes for women in low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMICs), one of which is the lack of necessary medical devices. Presently, the development of various kinds of devices intended to improve women's health outcomes specifically in LMICs remains underrepresented in the literature; therefore,

GO‐Loading‐Dependent Interfacial Architecture and Photocatalytic Behavior of MoSe2/Graphene Oxide Hybrid Materials

open access: yesJournal of the Chinese Chemical Society, EarlyView.
MoSe2/GO heterostructure exhibits enhanced photocatalytic dye degradation and CO2 reduction through efficient charge separation and electron transfer under UV‐visible light irradiation. ABSTRACT MoSe2/graphene oxide (MoSe2/GO) hybrids with controlled GO loadings were prepared through an ex‐situ hydrothermal route using commercial MoSe2 and GO as ...

Controllable DNA Condensation by Mixed Cationic Gemini/Nonionic Surfactant Systems: Structure, Thermodynamics, and Cytotoxicity

open access: yesJournal of Surfactants and Detergents, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Controllable DNA condensation is important for nucleic‐acid packaging and non‐viral gene‐delivery systems. This study aimed to determine how the composition of mixed nonionic C12E10 and cationic gemini C12C6C12Br2 surfactants regulates DNA condensation, structure, thermodynamics, and cytotoxicity.

Antimicrobial bilayer starch film containing zein electrospun fibers encapsulating thyme essential oil for cherry tomato packaging

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract Background This study evaluated the antimicrobial activity of thyme essential oil (TEO) encapsulated in electrospun zein fibers for use in bilayer films as active packaging for cherry tomatoes. The antimicrobial activity of TEO and bilayer films with 20%, 40%, and 60% TEO was assessed with agar diffusion and microatmosphere assays.

Survey to assess the economic stability and mental health of households with people receiving enteral and parenteral nutrition

open access: yesNutrition in Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The landscape of nutrition support faces challenges, including rising costs, product shortages, reimbursement gaps, and infusion providers closing. This nationwide survey aimed to describe the perceptions and attitudes related to costs, therapy access, and mental health among households with at least one family member requiring ...

Fiber‐Reinforced Bio‐Epoxy Composites: Degradation Mechanisms in Saline Environment

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Constituent level degradation of bio‐epoxy composites after saline aging. ABSTRACT This study examines the degradation behavior of bio‐epoxy composites reinforced with glass, basalt, carbon, and flax fiber yarns in a simulated saline environment. Fiber yarns and composite samples were exposed to 3.5% NaCl solution at 60°C for up to 3000 h.

Cationic‐Hydrophilic Di‐Block Copolymers: Surface‐Shielded Vectors for Gene Delivery

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, Volume 63, Issue 6, Page 1419-1432, 15 March 2025.
This study develops synthetic polycationic di‐block carriers for nucleic acid (NA) delivery in gene therapy. Consisting of a cationic block and a hydrophilic block, these carriers efficiently form complexes with NAs and shield them with a protective bioinert layer, enhancing stability during circulation in the bloodstream while reducing undesirable ...

Evaluating larvicide performance against Culicoides sonorensis in semi‐field conditions

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
This study evaluated the efficacy of larvicide products against Culicoides sonorensis populations under controlled semi‐field conditions. Larvicide efficacy against C. sonorensis declined over time, in different environmental conditions. In particular, precipitation and habitat disturbance influenced residual performance. Abstract BACKGROUND Culicoides

Polymersome‐Enabled Multimodal Delivery of Tobramycin and Doripenem for Targeted Eradication of Pseudomonas aeruginosa Biofilms in Chronic Rhinosinusitis

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Schematic representation of diffusion‐based versus pH‐triggered drug release within a bacterial biofilm. In diffusion‐based systems, drug cargo is gradually released independent of local pH, resulting in rapid burst release and reduced sustained concentrations.

Symmetry‐Guided Optical Control of Dynamic 1D Protein Self‐Assembly and Precise In Vitro Initiation of Biomolecular Condensation

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A photoreversible 1D protein assembly has been developed by utilizing symmetry matching between StrepTactin and photoswitchable Dronpa145N. The light‐induced modulation of oligomerization allows for precise control over protein connectivity and valency.
