Heating of the Solar Corona by Dissipative Alfvén Solitons [PDF]
Solar photospheric convection drives myriads of dissipative Alfven solitons (hereinafter called alfvenons) capable of accelerating electrons and ions to energies of hundreds of keV and producing the X-ray corona. Alfvenons are exact solutions of two-fluid equations for a collisionless plasma and represent natural accelerators for conversion of the ...

Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

Nonequilibrium thermodynamics of gravitational objective-collapse models
We investigate the entropy production in the Diósi-Penrose (DP) model, one of the most extensively studied gravity-related collapse mechanisms, and one of its dissipative extensions.

Flight and heat dissipation in birds
Birds during normal sustained flight must be able to dissipate more than 8 times as much heat as during rest in order not to be overheated. The experiments reported in this note on the hemoglobin systems from two different birds indicate the existence of a molecular mechanism by which hemoglobin is used simultaneously for oxygen transport and heat ...

A simplified thermoplastic pultrusion model is developed to predict thermal fields in glass fiber/polyethylene terephthalate (GF/PET) composites with reduced computational cost. By combining effective material homogenization, validation against literature data, and Gaussian‐process‐based optimization, the study reveals how heating limits, pulling speed,
