Analysis of the vibrationally induced dissipative heating of thin-wall structures containing piezoactive layers

open access: yes, 2012
A strongly non-linear dynamic problem of thermomechanics for multilayer beams is formulated based on the Kirchhoff–Love hypotheses. In the case of harmonic loading, a simplified formulation is given using a single-frequency approximation and the concept ...

Microstructure‐Controlled Crack Propagation and Fracture Resistance in MoSiBTiC Alloy Revealed by Multiscale Extended Finite Element Method Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A two‐dimensional multiscale finite element analysis framework was established for the first‐generation MoSiBTiC alloy, and the mechanical and fracture‐related parameters of the constituent phases were calibrated through experiments and simulations. The framework provides a basis for analyzing crack propagation behavior in its complex microstructure ...

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

DYNAMICAL NANOSRUCTURING OF NaCl PREMELTING PHASES

open access: yesКонденсированные среды и межфазные границы, 2018
Complex investigation of NaCl premelting phases dynamical structuring have been carry out in different kinetic conditions. The transient states near the melting point are fl uctuating, nonequilibrium processes, which are accompanied by dissipative states

High-frequency Alfven waves in multi-ion coronal plasma : observational implications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We investigate the effects of high-frequency (of order ion gyrofrequency) Alfvén and ion-cyclotron waves on ion emission lines by studying the dispersion of these waves in a multi-ion coronal plasma.

Enhanced Strength and Corrosion Resistance of Ti‐13Nb‐12Ta‐10Zr‐4Sn Alloy by Aging Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work systematically investigates the effect of aging treatment on mechanical properties and corrosion behavior of vacuum arc‐melted Ti‐13Nb‐12Ta‐10Zr‐4Sn alloy. Owing to the increased α″ martensite, strength and corrosion resistance were significantly enhanced by aging treatment.

Direct Metal Deposition of Graphene–Ti28Nb35.4Zr Matrix Composites With Enhanced Mechanical, Corrosion, and Biocompatibility Properties for Bone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene nanoplatelet (0.1 wt.%) reinforcement significantly enhances the performance of β Ti‐28Nb‐35.4Zr alloy. Grain refinement, reduced water contact angle, and improved surface characteristics promote osteoblast adhesion and complete surface coverage after 7 days.

Dissipative Heating in a Rotational Viscometer with Coaxial Cylinders

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2008
Rotational viscometers with coaxial cylinders are often used for measuring rheological behaviour. If the inner to outer cylinder diameter ratio does not differ significantly from 1, the curvature can be neglected and the flow reduces to the flow between ...
