Facilitation of Vertical Vergence by Horizontal Saccades, Found in a Patient With Dissociated Vertical Deviation [PDF]

open access: yesStrabismus, 1994
The authors examined vertical vergence in a Is-year-old girl with dissociated vertical deviation, a 60 convergent strabismus, no binocular vision, latent nystagmus, and a minimal left amblyopia.

Dissociated Vertical Deviation

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1980
To the Editor. —I read with interest the article by Sprague et al (Archives98:465-468, 1980) concerning treatment of dissociated vertical deviation (DVD) with Cuppers' faden operation. With all due respect to these authors, Cuppers' faden operation as the authors correctly described is a posterior fixation suture procedure.

Asymmetrical Vertical Phorias Indicating Dissociated Vertical Deviation in Subjects With Normal Binocular Vision

open access: yesVision Research, 1998
We measured the symmetry of phoria angles in six normal subjects. Subjects were selected on the basis of good visual acuity and stereopsis, normal binocular eye alignment and, apart from mild refraction errors, absence of ocular abnormalities.

Dissociated vertical deviation: Simplified

Himalayan Journal of Ophthalmology, 2022
Abstract Dissociated vertical deviation (DVD) is not a well-understood ocular motility disorder. It is defined as an intermittent anomaly of a non-fixing eye consisting of upward excursion, ex-cyclotorsion, and lateral deviation. It can present as latent or manifest deviation.

Dissociated Vertical Deviation-Reply

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1980
In Reply. —Dr Porter is correct that the posterior fixation suture procedure was originally described by Cuppers 1 with reattachment of the muscle to its anatomic insertion. However, we did not take up this operation until Muhlendyck, an associate of Cuppers, reported at the International Orthoptic Congress in Boston in July 1975.

Surgical Results in Dissociated Vertical Deviations

Journal of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus, 1984
ABSTRACT The effect of surgery on dissociated vertical deviations was compared in three groups of patients treated with one of the following methods: posterior fixation sutures of the superior rectus, superior rectus recession, or superior rectus recession with posterior fixation sutures.

Surgical Correction of Dissociated Vertical Deviations

Journal of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus, 1977
The surgical treatment and results of 17 patients with DVD is presented. Supermaximum recessions of the superior rectus muscle were performed on the deviating eye. No lid changes or any limitation of elevation were noted following the surgery. The manifest deviation was converted to less than ten prism diopters in all except one case.
