Dissociation and Ionization in Sonoluminescence

Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 2001
An hydrodynamic model for single bubble sonoluminescence (SBSL) taking into account dissociation in diatomic gases and ionization in monoatomic ones is presented.

Dissociative electron capture and dissociative ionization in perfluoropropane

International Journal of Mass Spectrometry and Ion Physics, 1969
Abstract Ionization efficiency curves for positive and negative ions in perfluorocyclobutane were determined by the retarding potential difference method. Ionization efficiency curves for selected negative ions from CF4, C2F4, C3F6, and 2-C4F8 (perfluorobutene-2) were determined as well.

Ionization or Dissociation?

Journal of Chemical Education, 1997
The use of the terms Dissociation and Ionization in the teaching of chemistry is discussed. It is suggested that the term dissociation, and what it suggests in terms of ordinary language, is inappropriate when used in certain contexts. Since an alternate and more physically correct term, specifically ionization, is available for these contexts, it is ...

Dissociative ionization of an aligned molecular sample

2007 Quantum Electronics and Laser Science Conference, 2007
We investigate dissociative ionization of aligned N2 molecules using intense ultrafast laser pulses. We find surprising differences in the yields of N2++, N+(1, 0) and N+(1, 1) as a function of molecular axis-laser polarization angle.

Femtosecond dynamics of NaI ionization and dissociative ionization

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1998
The femtosecond dynamics of NaI two-body (NaI+hν→NaI++e−) and three-body (NaI+hν→Na++I+e−) break-up is investigated by quantum mechanical simulations. A first femtosecond laser pulse creates an excited molecular wave packet, and an additional ultrafast photoionization step monitors its subsequent time evolution.

Electron-impact ionization and dissociative ionization of acetylene

Journal of Physics B: Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics, 1996
A pulsed electron beam and ion extraction system has been employed to measure cross sections for formation of C, , , C, and by electron impact on acetylene in the energy range varying from threshold to 800 eV. The relative flow technique has been used to obtain normalized values of cross sections.

Dissociative ionization of silane

Chemical Physics Letters, 1990
Abstract The dissociative ionization cross-sections of silane (SiH 4 ), have been measured by Fourier transform mass spectrometry. Neither the molecular ion SiH 4 + nor the hydrogen ions H 2 + , H + are formed by electron impact. Cross-sections for the other silicon hydride ions at 50 eV are: σ(SiH 3 + ) = (0.5 ± 0.08) × 10 −16 cm 2 , σ(SiH 2 +

Multiphoton dissociative ionization of O2: Competition between dissociation and ionization in excited states

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1994
A mass and energy resolved photoion spectrum of O2 induced by 12 ns 193 nm radiation with an intensity of 1010–1011 W/cm2 is presented. The analysis of the spectrum gives (1) the two-photon ionization cross section (≊1.1×10−54 cm4 s) of the X 3Σ−g of O2 and (2) the intensity dependent branching ratios between photoionization and predissociation of the ...

Multiphoton dissociative ionization of molecular deuterium

Physical Review A, 1988
The kinetic energy spectra of deuterium ions produced from ${\mathrm{D}}_{2}$ arising from collision-free subpicosecond irradiation at 248 nm with intensities spanning the ${10}^{13}$\char21{}${10}^{16}$-W/${\mathrm{cm}}^{2}$ range have been measured by time-of-flight analysis.

Boundary-Layer Theory with Dissociation and Ionization

1960
Publisher Summary The development of ballistic missiles has made rapid progress. One of the consequences of this development is that classical aerodynamics is found insufficient for the description of flows with high velocities. Today, almost all branches of physics need to be studied to treat certain problems connected with those high velocities ...
