Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Perioperative fluid management and postoperative complications after laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
A pesar de que la mortalidad de la cirugía pancreática hadisminuido en las últimas décadas, la morbilidad permanecealta. Una de las causas más importantes de esta es la fístulapancreática postoperatoria.

Contribution of L-Arginine supplementation during gestation on sow productive performance and on sow microbial faecal profile

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science, 2020
Arginine plays an important role during reproduction, however, the amount of supplementation in sow diet is still uncertain. The aim of the study was to verify the efficacy of a gestating diet enriched or not with a low dose of L-arginine (Arg) on sow ...

Distal Myopathy

open access: yesThe Tohoku Journal of Experimental Medicine, 1990
Various types of the distal myopathy except Welander's late distal myopathy of Swedish type were described. There were many reports in the past concerning the varieties of the distal myopathy. Distal myopathy is a rather rare disorder and it may be difficult to diagnose these cases.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

Distal renal tubular acidosis developments in its diagnosis and pathophysiology

open access: yes, 2010
This thesis describes two groups of experiments, both relating to the condition of distal renal tubular acidosis (dRTA). In the first, an alternative diagnostic test of dRTA to the ‘gold standard’ short ammonium chloride (NH4Cl) test was assessed ...

Non-union Hoffa’s Fracture in an Adult Male Managed with Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Rare Case Report

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Case Reports
Introduction: Coronal plane fractures of the femoral condyle, known as Hoffa’s fractures, are uncommon intra-articular injuries. Non-union of such fractures is rarely reported, particularly in younger patients, and presents a complex clinical scenario ...

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

A unified approach to outcomes assessment for distal radius fractures

open access: yes, 2016
Distal radius fractures are one of the most common upper extremity injuries. Currently, outcome assessment after treatment of these injuries varies widely with respect to the measures that are used, timing of assessment, and the end points that are ...
