Distal Pancreatectomy - OWN Experience
Polish Journal of Surgery, 2012was the retrospective analysis of early results after distal pancreatectomy (DP).During the period between January, 2000 and December, 2010 distal pancreatectomy was performed in 73 patients, including 32 (43.83%) male, and 41 (56.16%) female patients. Average patient age amounted to 53.92 ± 14.37 years. Surgery was performed by means of laparoscopy or

Artery-First Distal Pancreatectomy
Digestive Surgery, 2016Artery-first pancreatectomy is a technique to ligate the feeding artery before the division of the pancreas with intents to reduce the blood loss and to perform more oncologic resection; for example, the splenic artery (SA) is ligated first for artery-first distal pancreatectomy (DP).

Laparoscopic Distal Pancreatectomy and Open Distal Pancreatectomy: A Nonrandomized Comparative Study
Surgical Laparoscopy, Endoscopy & Percutaneous Techniques, 2008Although laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy (LDP) is technically feasible, its benefits remain uncertain. The purpose of this study was to compare the clinical results of LDP and open distal pancreatectomy (ODP). The medical records of 14 consecutive patients who underwent LDP were reviewed and compared with those of 19 patients who underwent ODP.

Laparoscopic Distal Pancreatectomy
2021Many lesions in the pancreas are increasingly detected as incidental findings on imaging performed for other reasons. These may range from benign cystic lesions to cysts of indeterminate nature, to non-functional neuroendocrine tumours or suspected pancreatic cancers.

A cost‐effectiveness analysis of robotic versus laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy
The international journal of medical robotics + computer assisted surgery : MRCAS, 2020There is no study in the literature that evaluates the cost‐effectiveness of robotic distal pancreatectomy (RDP) over laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy (LDP).

Laparoscopic Distal Pancreatectomy
2020While lesions at the tail of the pancreas may be benign or malignant, they often require resection. When performing a distal pancreatectomy, one can preserve the spleen or perform a combined distal pancreatectomy/splenectomy. Preservation of the spleen is more technically challenging. One common complication is leak from the transected pancreatic duct.

Robotic distal pancreatectomy presents advantages when compared to laparoscopy, such as lower conversion rate to open surgery, increased harvested nodes, and an increased preservation rate. The robot allows a better dissection of the tail of the pancreas, vascular control, and extended lymphadenectomy.

OBJECTIVE First, to assess the impact of the number of examined lymph nodes (ELNs) on staging and survival after distal pancreatectomy (DP) for pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Second, to identify the minimum number of ELNs (MNELNs) ensuring an accurate

Historically, references to distal pancreatectomy (DP) date back to the late 1800s. Billroth is said to have performed resections of both the head and tail of the pancreas in 1884, but Trendelenburg supposedly preceded this feat by 2 years when he performed a DP with splenectomy for a sarcoma.
