Distal renal tubular acidosis

Current Opinion in Pediatrics, 2004
Research in the past several years has led to the understanding of numerous genetic mutations that lead to inheritable forms of distal renal tubular acidosis (dRTA). Most of these mutations affect the physiology of the A-intercalated cells of the renal cortical collecting duct.

Hypokalemic Distal Renal Tubular Acidosis

Advances in Chronic Kidney Disease, 2018
Distal renal tubular acidosis (DRTA) is defined as hyperchloremic, non-anion gap metabolic acidosis with impaired urinary acid excretion in the presence of a normal or moderately reduced glomerular filtration rate. Failure in urinary acid excretion results from reduced H+ secretion by intercalated cells in the distal nephron.

Lysozymuria in Distal Renal Tubular Acidosis

Nephron, 2008
A patient with hyperglobulinemia, distal renal tubular acidosis and lysozymuria is described. Lysozymuria could not be accounted for by elevated plasma levels. Chromatography of urine showed a diffuse pattern of low molecular weight protein, including lysozyme. No other defects in proximal tubular function were detected.
