Discriminative Distance-Based Network Indices with Application to Link Prediction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In large networks, using the length of shortest paths as the distance measure has shortcomings. A well-studied shortcoming is that extending it to disconnected graphs and directed graphs is controversial.

Selection of Soybean Genotypes under Drought and Saline Stress Conditions Using Manhattan Distance and TOPSIS

open access: yesPlants, 2022
The search for soybean genotypes more adapted to abiotic stress conditions is essential to boost the development and yield of the crop in Brazil and worldwide. In this research, we propose a new approach using the concept of distance (or similarity) in a

Some New Biparametric Distance Measures on Single-Valued Neutrosophic Sets with Applications to Pattern Recognition and Medical Diagnosis

open access: yesInformation, 2017
Single-valued neutrosophic sets (SVNSs) handling the uncertainties characterized by truth, indeterminacy, and falsity membership degrees, are a more flexible way to capture uncertainty.

Linking a distance measure of entanglement to its convex roof

open access: yes, 2010
An important problem in quantum information theory is the quantification of entanglement in multipartite mixed quantum states. In this work, a connection between the geometric measure of entanglement and a distance measure of entanglement is established.

Geographical information retrieval with ontologies of place [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Geographical context is required of many information retrieval tasks in which the target of the search may be documents, images or records which are referenced to geographical space only by means of place names.

A Systematic Review of Evidence on the Clinical Effectiveness of Surveillance Imaging in Children With Medulloblastoma and Ependymoma

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Surveillance imaging aims to detect tumour relapse before symptoms develop, but it's unclear whether earlier detection of relapse leads to better outcomes in children and young people (CYP) with medulloblastoma and ependymoma. This systematic review aims to identify relevant literature to determine the efficacy of surveillance magnetic ...

Fuzzy Clustering with Uninorm-Based Distance Measure

open access: yesMathematics
In this paper, we suggest an algorithm of fuzzy clustering with a uninorm-based distance measure. The algorithm follows a general scheme of fuzzy c-means (FCM) clustering, but in contrast to the existing algorithm, it implements logical distance between ...

DISTANCE MEASURES IN AGGREGATING PREFERENCE DATA [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The aim of this paper is to present aggregation methods of individual preferences scores by means of distance measures. Three groups of distance measures are discussed: measures  which use preference distributions for all pairs of objects (e.g.

A note on Gromov-Hausdorff-Prokhorov distance between (locally) compact measure spaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We present an extension of the Gromov-Hausdorff metric on the set of compact metric spaces: the Gromov-Hausdorff-Prokhorov metric on the set of compact metric spaces endowed with a finite measure. We then extend it to the non-compact case by describing a

Pathogenic Germline PALB2 and RAD50 Variants in Patients With Relapsed Ewing Sarcoma

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Approximately 10% of patients with Ewing sarcoma (EwS) have pathogenic germline variants. Here, we report two cases: first, a novel germline pathogenic variant in partner and localizer of BRCA2 (PALB2) in a patient with a late EwS relapse. Its impact on homologous recombination is demonstrated, and breast cancer risk is discussed.
