Augmenting Ontology Alignment by Semantic Embedding and Distant Supervision [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Ontology alignment plays a critical role in knowledge integration and has been widely investigated in the past decades. State of the art systems, however, still have considerable room for performance improvement especially in dealing with new (industrial) alignment tasks.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Development of Entrustable Professional Activities for entry into residency at the Charité Berlin

open access: yesGMS Journal for Medical Education, 2019
Background: Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) have emerged as a new approach to operationalise the workplace performance expectations for the transition from under- to postgraduate medical training. However, the transferability of such EPAs from

A Neural Relation Extraction Model for Distant Supervision in Counter-Terrorism Scenario

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Natural language processing (NLP) is the best solution to extensive, unstructured, complex, and diverse network big data for counter-terrorism. Through the text analysis, it is the basis and the most critical step to quickly extract the relationship ...

A Distant Supervision Approach to Semantic Role Labeling [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Fourth Joint Conference on Lexical and Computational Semantics, 2015
Semanticrolelabelinghasbecomeakeymodule for many language processing applications such as question answering, information extraction, sentiment analysis, and machine translation. To build an unrestricted semantic role labeler, the first step is to develop a comprehensive proposition bank.

Distant Supervision for Tweet Classification Using YouTube Labels

open access: yesProceedings of the International AAAI Conference on Web and Social Media, 2021
We study an approach to tweet classification based on distant supervision, whereby we automatically transfer labels from one social medium to another. In particular, we apply classes assigned to YouTube videos to tweets linking to these videos. This provides for free a virtually unlimited number of labelled instances that can be used as

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Effective Distant Supervision for Temporal Relation Extraction

open access: yesCoRR, 2020
A principal barrier to training temporal relation extraction models in new domains is the lack of varied, high quality examples and the challenge of collecting more. We present a method of automatically collecting distantly-supervised examples of temporal relations.

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...
