Atmospheric humidity is unlikely to serve as an important water source for crustose soil lichens in the Tabernas Desert

open access: yesJournal of Hydrology and Hydromechanics, 2020
Dew is commonly regarded as an important water source for lichens. This is also the case for crustose lichens that are attached to the substrate, whether rocks or soil. While being verified during ample research on rock-dwelling lichens in the Negev, the

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Generalised model for heteroazeotropic batch distillation with variable decanter hold-up [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A general model of batch heteroazeotropic distillation is proposed. Both liquid phases present in the decanter can be refluxed or withdrawn as distillate, their hold-up can be increased, decreased or kept constant, as well. By assuming maximal separation,

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Entrainer selection for pressure swing batch distillation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The feasibility of the separation of binary homoazeotropes with pressure swing batch distillation by the application of an entrainer is studied. The feasibility studies are based on the assumption of maximal separation and on the analysis of batch ...

Performance of asymmetric hollow fibre membranes in membrane distillation under various configurations and vacuum enhancement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Hollow fibre membrane distillation (MD) modules have a more compact structure than flat sheet membrane modules, providing potentially greater advantage in commercial applications.

Microwave Ultrafast Heating on Iron‐based Nanogap Catalysts for CO2 Reduction Coupling with Coke Removal

open access: yesAdvanced Science
The persistent challenge of catalytic coke deposition is compounded by conventional regeneration methods like air combustion that are both energy‐intensive and emit additional CO2, contradicting global carbon neutrality objectives.

Appropriate technology application of traditional clove oil production, effort to up-grade quality

open access: yesAdvances in Food Science, Sustainable Agriculture, and Agroindustrial Engineering, 2020
In East Java, the production of clove leaf oil refinement is developed by businesses owned by rural people. The processing operation is simple and start-up investment is low.

EXPERIMENTAL ANALYSIS OF THE EFFECT ADDITION HEAT COVER IN DISTILLATION REACTOR

open access: yesLogic, 2022
Distillation is the process of separating two or more components of a liquid based on their boiling points in which the material to be evaporated is contained.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.
