A universal approach to queuing with distortion control [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 2005
An efficient buffer-management algorithm is developed for queues that handle distortion-tolerant data under finite memory limitations. We avoid overflows and realize significant performance gains through the use of multiresolution source codes. These codes enable us to reduce the fidelity of signal descriptions in a controlled progressive manner.

Welding Distortion Characteristics of Door Openings According to Changing Shape of Stiffener [PDF]

open access: yes한국해양공학회지, 2019
Welding often results in welding distortion during the assembly process. The welding distortion of thin-plate structures such as the living quarters of ships and offshore installations is a more significant problem than in the case of thick-plate ...

Predictive Control for Current Distortion Mitigation in Mining Power Grids

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
Current distortion is a critical issue of power quality because the low frequency harmonics injected by adjustable speed drives increase heating losses in transmission lines and induce torque flickering in induction motors, which are widely used in ...

Distortion‐Controlled Redshift of Organic Dye Molecules

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, 2020
AbstractIt is shown, quantum chemically, how structural distortion of an aromatic dye molecule can be leveraged to rationally tune its optoelectronic properties. By using a quantitative Kohn–Sham molecular orbital (KS‐MO) approach, in combination with time‐dependent DFT (TD‐DFT), the influence of various structural and electronic tuning parameters on ...
