Weakening the nuclear envelope: Lamin B receptor in melanoma metastasis
LBR‐driven nuclear fragility supports melanoma invasion. A: Melanocyte presents low LBR (Lamin B Receptor) levels, maintaining nuclear integrity and lamina‐chromatin tethering. B: During malignant progression, upregulation of LBR clusters at the INM (Inner Nuclear Membrane) during confined migration causes local lamina weakening and cholesterol ...

Hybrid incompatibilities are a common correlate of genomic divergence and a potentially important contributor to reproductive isolation. However, we do not yet have a detailed understanding of how hybrid incompatibility loci function and evolve within ...

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Identifying Mechanisms of AM-PM Distortion in Large Signal Amplifiers [PDF]
We define the nonlinear dynamic phenomenon of AM to PM distortion and discuss different candidate mechanisms. Qualitative descriptions of this from of distortion are turned into expressions, and are applied to FET RF power amplifier described in the ...

Distortion as a validation criterion in the identification of suspicious reviews [PDF]
Assessing the trustworthiness of reviews is a key issue for the maintainers of opinion sites such as TripAdvisor. In this paper we propose a distortion criterion for assessing the impact of methods for uncovering suspicious hotel reviews in TripAdvisor ...

Astrocyte heterogeneity in brain metastases
Astrocytes emerge as pivotal regulators of metastatic colonization, survival, immune remodeling, and therapy response associated with an increasing heterogeneity that requires spatially and longitudinally resolved approaches to uncover regulatory programs and guide context‐specific therapies.

Comparison of joining efficiency and residual stresses in laser and laser hybrid welding [PDF]
Laser welding is a high energy density process, which can produce welds with less energy input and thereby lower residual stress generation compared to arc welding processes.

The Distortion of Prior-Independent b-Matching Mechanisms
In a setting where $m$ items need to be partitioned among $n$ agents, we evaluate the performance of mechanisms that take as input each agent's \emph{ordinal preferences}, i.e., their ranking of the items from most- to least-preferred. The standard measure for evaluating ordinal mechanisms is the \emph{distortion}, and the vast majority of the ...

Why human connection is the true metric of research success
Human‐centred mentorship can be shaped by mentor attributes, actions, intrinsic drive and career ambition. Drawing on reflections across Singapore and France, as well as workshop insights from FEBS‐IUBMB ENABLE 2024, this article shows that human‐centred mentorship creates the conditions for sustainable growth, well‐being and retention in research ...
