Athermal Hollow Waveguide Distributed Bragg Reflector Laser

CLEO:2011 - Laser Applications to Photonic Applications, 2011
We demonstrate athermal hollow-waveguide distributed Bragg reflector lasers using a hybrid-integration approach. The lasing wavelength can be locked within a longitudinal mode spacing (0.3nm) over temperature range of 15K. A design of mode-hop-free athermal operations is presented.

Switching characteristics of distributed Bragg reflector lasers

[Proceedings] Singapore ICCS/ISITA `92, 1992
This paper presents numerical results concerning wavelength switching of multisection DBR lasers. The static tuning characteristics and the dynamic behavior of the switching between different longitudinal modes is investigated. The influence of hysteresis in the frequency versus grating current characteristics on the forward and backward switching time

Tunable multilayer-film distributed-Bragg-reflector filter

Journal of Applied Physics, 1979
The periodic multilayers of dielectric materials such as polystyrene/collodion or polystyrene/polyvinyl alcohol were fabricated by means of alternately dropping these solutions onto a spinner. As these materials are slightly elastic, a large shift of the center of the Bragg reflection by 650 Å toward shorter wavelength is obtained by the compression of

Analysis of Distributed Bragg-Reflector Laser Amplifiers

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 1977
Laser amplifiers with distributed Bragg-reflectors are analyzed to obtain the transmission gain and the linewidth by using the coupled-mode equation. Compared with the distributed feedback (DFB) laser amplifiers, the distributed Bragg-reflector (DBR) laser amplifiers have an advantage that the transmission gain and the linewidth are controlled by the ...

Integrated external cavity distributed Bragg reflector laser

Applied Physics Letters, 1987
The fabrication and performance characteristics of single frequency integrated external cavity distributed Bragg reflector lasers are described. The current is confined to the active region of these lasers using semi-insulating Fe-doped InP layers. The semi-insulating layer also provides lateral index guiding to the lasing optical mode both in the ...

Self-focused distributed Bragg reflector laser diodes

Summaries of Papers Presented at the Lasers and Electro-Optics. CLEO '02. Technical Diges, 2003
Summary from only given. We have reported the successful realisation of the type of a curved-grating DBR semiconductor laser that was previously proposed theoretically. Single-frequency generation was observed and far-field measurements showed good agreement with our prediction for lateral beam behaviour.

Structural analysis of distributed Bragg reflector mirrors

Vacuum, 2009
Abstract Quantum cascade (QC) lasers and vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) are of great interest due to their potential importance for a variety of device applications. Both kinds of lasers call for very highly reflective mirrors. Usually distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) mirrors, which consist of periodic quarter wavelength stacks of ...

Organic optical microgravity with distributed Bragg reflectors

SPIE Proceedings, 2001
The single layer of organic optical microcavity with 1D distributed Bragg reflectors (DBRs) was fabricated. The PL emission properties of the microcavity were explored at the two sides, which show different characteristics due to the asymmetric structure. The PL emission peak of Alq film is at 5113 nm with a half width of 78nm.

Improved simulation of VCSEL distributed Bragg reflectors

Journal of Computational Electronics, 2007
In this paper, the Floquet-Bloch theory (FBT) has been applied to the accurate simulation of distributed Bragg reflectors in vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSELs). A number of comparisons with other methods largely used in commercial CAD tools is presented. Performance predictions for long-wavelength GaInAsP VCSELs are derived.

Nanowire lasers with distributed-Bragg-reflector mirrors

Applied Physics Letters, 2006
A self-consistent, coupled optoelectronic simulation model is used to study microcavity GaN nanowire lasers. This model is applied to show that it is possible to design a nanowire laser with distributed-Bragg-reflector mirrors. Several advantages are expected to be enjoyed from the use of such mirrors.
