Saturable optical resonators with distributed Bragg-reflectors

Optics Communications, 1976
Abstract Saturable optical resonators with distributed Bragg reflectors are analyzed by using the mode coupling theory. Hysteresis and nonlinear characteristics are given as a function of the absorption coefficient, the length of the absorber region, and the coupling coefficient of the corrugated waveguide.

Nanowire lasers with distributed-Bragg-reflector mirrors

Applied Physics Letters, 2006
A self-consistent, coupled optoelectronic simulation model is used to study microcavity GaN nanowire lasers. This model is applied to show that it is possible to design a nanowire laser with distributed-Bragg-reflector mirrors. Several advantages are expected to be enjoyed from the use of such mirrors.

Improved simulation of VCSEL distributed Bragg reflectors

Journal of Computational Electronics, 2007
In this paper, the Floquet-Bloch theory (FBT) has been applied to the accurate simulation of distributed Bragg reflectors in vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSELs). A number of comparisons with other methods largely used in commercial CAD tools is presented. Performance predictions for long-wavelength GaInAsP VCSELs are derived.

Principles of distributed feedback and distributed Bragg-reflector lasers

IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1974
Wave propagation in periodic waveguides is analyzed by decomposing the eigen Bloch waves into traveling-wave components. It is shown that the principal components consist of a primary forward wave, a primary backward wave, and their Bragg-scattered secondary waves.

Distributed Bragg reflector active optical filters

IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1991
The characteristics of active optical filters based on distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) laser diodes are described. The authors present a theoretical model for the small and large signal filter response which can be used to optimize the filter design and operating point.

Extended Distributed Bragg Reflectors for Commercial Foundries

CLEO 2025
Extended distributed Bragg reflectors are challenging to fabricate on commercial photonics foundries due to lithography limitations. We demonstrate a commercial foundry compatible geometry for EDBRs designed in silicon nitride.
