High-reflectivity broadband distributed Bragg reflector lattice matched to ZnTe

open access: yes, 2009
We report on the realization of a high quality distributed Bragg reflector with both high and low refractive index layers lattice matched to ZnTe. Our structure is grown by molecular beam epitaxy and is based on binary compounds only. The high refractive

Dynamic properties of silicon-integrated short-wavelength hybrid-cavity VCSEL [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We present a vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) where a GaAs-based "half-VCSEL" is attached to a dielectric distributed Bragg reflector on silicon using ultra-thin divinylsiloxane-bis-benzocyclobutene (DVS-BCB) adhesive bonding, creating a ...

Design of Photonic Crystal Membrane-Reflector-Based VCSELs

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2012
We present here the cavity design of distributed-Bragg-reflector-free ultracompact Fano-resonance photonic crystal membrane-reflector vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers on silicon, which consists of a III-V quantum-well active region sandwiched in ...

Multiwavelength distributed Bragg reflector fibre laser

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2006
A short-cavity continuous-wave multiwavelength distributed Bragg reflector fibre laser is described which stably generated eight longitudinal modes of the cavity spaced approximately 0.4 nm (50 GHz). The relative intensity noise of the laser was dominated by anti-phase relaxation oscillations associated with gain cross-saturation.

Adjustment of Coatings Morphology and Particle Distribution of Layered Silicates by Freeze‐Drying for Improved Gas Barriers

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Freeze‐drying of layered silicate is the key to get coatings with superior gas barrier. Freeze‐drying of layered silicates modified with dodecylamine (DDA) is a highly effective technique for the preparation of barrier pigments that significantly mitigate the permeation of oxygen, water vapor, and hydrogen through polymer films containing these ...

Monolithically Integrated Dual-Wavelength Distributed Bragg Reflector Laser Photonic Integrated Circuit Chip for Continuous-Wave Terahertz Generation

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2021
We report the design, fabrication and characterization of a 1.55-μm dual-wavelength Distributed Bragg Reflector (DBR) laser photonic integrated circuit (PIC) chip for continuous-waves (CW) terahertz generation.

Analysis of self-pulsating three-section DBR lasers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The characteristics of a three-section distributed Bragg reflector laser showing self-pulsation have been analyzed using a large signal time-domain traveling-wave simulator. The device dynamic properties have been investigated in all their complexity and

Ideal Molecular Sieving with a Dense MOF for Helium Upgrading with Highly Diffusion Selective Mixed Matrix Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The separation of Helium gas from natural gas is challenging but highly important. MIL‐116(Ga), a “non‐porous” metal–organic framework is used as a molecular sieve to separate He from CH4. Druse‐like MIL‐116(Ga) particles are integrated into polysulfone mixed matrix membranes.

Multispectral SNSPD Using a Modified Distributed Bragg Reflector, Gold Mirror, and Multilayer-Nanowire Structures

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
A multispectral superconducting nanowire single-photon detector (SNSPD) that is sensitive to different incident photon wavelength bands, is proposed. The SNSPD consists of a distributed Bragg reflector (DBR), a gold mirror, and two regions employing four

Understanding and Optimizing Li Substitution in P2‐Type Sodium Layered Oxides for Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores Li‐substituted P2 layered oxides for Na‐ion batteries by crystallographic and electrochemical studies. The effect of lithium on superstructure orderings, on phase transitions during synthesis and electrochemical cycling and on the interplay of O‐ versus TM‐redox is revealed via various advanced techniques, including semi‐simultaneous
