RF or THz signals generated from DC biased multimode lasers [PDF]
Although self pulsating (SP) lasers are DC biased, they feature a modulation of the output power. For the results presented in this paper, the SP frequency corresponds to the frequency spacing between longitudinal modes or its second harmonic.

Ultrashort Q-switched pulses from a passively mode-locked distributed Bragg reflector semiconductor laser [PDF]
A compact semiconductor mode-locked laser (MLL) is presented that demonstrates strong passive Q-switched mode-locking over a wide range of drive conditions.

High‐contrast subwavelength grating (HCG) and distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) are demonstrated to be able to tailor the dispersion independently. Herein, it is found that multiple‐shape dispersions can be realized by a metastructure, which consists of ...

A wavelength-tunable short-cavity DBR laser with active distributed Bragg reflector
The incorporation of an active single-quantum well in the tuning layer of a DBR laser is proposed as a way of compensating for optical loss and achieving stable single-mode operation during wavelength tuning. Experimental results demonstrate that the structure achieves these goals while maintaining the efficiency of tuning.

1.55 µm AlGaInAs/InP sampled grating laser diodes for mode-locking at THz frequencies [PDF]
We report mode locking in lasers integrated with semiconductor optical amplifiers, using either conventional or phase shifted sampled grating distributed Bragg reflectors(DBRs).

Photocathodes based on GaAs and other III–V semiconductors are capable of producing highly spin-polarized electron beams. GaAs/GaAsP superlattice photocathodes exhibit high spin polarization; however, the quantum efficiency (QE) is limited to 1% or less.
