Combined analysis of transient delay characteristics and delay autocorrelation function in the Geo(X)/G/1 queue [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We perform a discrete-time analysis of customer delay in a buffer with batch arrivals. The delay of the kth customer that enters the FIFO buffer is characterized under the assumption that the numbers of arrivals per slot are independent and identically ...

Distributed Nonlocal Feedback Delays May Destabilize Fronts in Neural Fields, Distributed Transmission Delays Do Not [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Mathematical Neuroscience, 2013
The spread of activity in neural populations is a well-known phenomenon. To understand the propagation speed and the stability of stationary fronts in neural populations, the present work considers a neural field model that involves intracortical and cortico-cortical synaptic interactions.

Delay-Dependent Stability Criterion of Caputo Fractional Neural Networks with Distributed Delay

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2014
This paper is concerned with the finite-time stability of Caputo fractional neural networks with distributed delay. The factors of such systems including Caputo’s fractional derivative and distributed delay are taken into account synchronously.

Delay Range Stability of distributed time delay systems [PDF]

open access: yesIFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2009
Abstract This paper is dedicated to the stability analysis of a class of uncertain distributed delay systems, the kernel of which can be modeled as a polynomial function. The results are constructed by rewriting the system as an uncertain interconnected model. Appropriate robust control tools, i.e.

Angiogenesis model with Erlang distributed delays

open access: yesMathematical Biosciences and Engineering, 2017
We consider the model of angiogenesis process proposed by Bodnar and Foryś (2009) with time delays included into the vessels formation and tumour growth processes. Originally, discrete delays were considered, while in the present paper we focus on distributed delays and discuss specific results for the Erlang distributions.

Experimental time-delayed feedback control with variable and distributed delays [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2012
We report on several improvements of the classical time-delayed feedback control method for stabilization of unstable periodic orbits or steady states. In an electronic circuit experiment, we were able to realize time-varying and distributed delays in the control force leading to successful control for large parameter sets, including large time delays.

Note on oscillation of neutral differential equations with multiple delays

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations
This note is a reaction on a recently published sufficient condition for oscillation of all solutions of a neutral delay differential equation. It is shown by a counterexample that the result is not correct and the problem is explained in details ...

A Recipe for State Dependent Distributed Delay Differential Equations

open access: yes, 2018
We use the McKendrick equation with variable ageing rate and randomly distributed maturation time to derive a state dependent distributed delay differential equation.

A delay logistic equation with variable growth rate [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
A logistic equation with distributed delay is considered in the case where the growth rate oscillates sinusoidally about a positive mean value. A delay kernel is chosen which admits bifurcation of the equilibrium state into a periodic solution when the ...
