Exponential decay for negative feedback loop with distributed delay [PDF]

open access: yesAppl. Math. Lett. 107 (2020) 106419, 2020
We derive sufficient conditions for exponential decay of solutions of the delay negative feedback equation with distributed delay. The conditions are written in terms of exponential moments of the distribution. Our method only uses elementary tools of calculus and is robust towards possible extensions to more complex settings, in particular, systems of

Practical challenges in data‐driven interpolation: Dealing with noise, enforcing stability, and computing realizations

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView., 2023
Summary In this contribution, we propose a detailed study of interpolation‐based data‐driven methods that are of relevance in the model reduction and also in the systems and control communities. The data are given by samples of the transfer function of the underlying (unknown) model, that is, we analyze frequency‐response data.

Data‐driven performance metrics for neural network learning

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView., 2023
Summary Effectiveness of data‐driven neural learning in terms of both local mimima trapping and convergence rate is addressed. Such issues are investigated in a case study involving the training of one‐hidden‐layer feedforward neural networks with the extended Kalman filter, which reduces the search for the optimal network parameters to a state ...

Delayed feedback control of unstable steady states with high-frequency modulation of the delay [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. E 88, 032912 (2013), 2013
We analyze the stabilization of unstable steady states by delayed feedback control with a periodic time-varying delay in the regime of a high-frequency modulation of the delay. The average effect of the delayed feedback term in the control force is equivalent to a distributed delay in the interval of the modulation, and the obtained distribution ...

Performance analysis of control allocation using data‐driven integral quadratic constraints

open access: yesAdvanced Control for Applications, Volume 4, Issue 4, December 2022., 2022
Abstract A new method is presented for evaluating the performance of a nonlinear control allocation system within a linear control loop. To that end, a worst‐case gain analysis problem is formulated that can be readily solved by means of well‐established methods from robustness analysis using integral quadratic constraints (IQCs).

Period two solution for a class of distributed delay differential equations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
We study the existence of a periodic solution for a differential equation with distributed delay. It is shown that, for a class of distributed delay diferential quations, a symmetric period 2 solution, where the period is twice the maximum delay, is given as a periodic solution of a Hamiltonian system of ordinary differential equations.

Moment Boundedness of Linear Stochastic Delay Differential Equation with Distributed Delay [PDF]

open access: yesStochastic Processes and their Applications, 2013, 2012
This paper studies the moment boundedness of solutions of linear stochastic delay differential equations with distributed delay. For a linear stochastic delay differential equation, the first moment stability is known to be identical to that of the corresponding deterministic delay differential equation.

Gene Expression Time Delays in Reaction-Diffusion Systems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Gene expression time delays, modelling the complex biological processes of gene transcription and translation, have been shown to play an important role in cellular dynamics. Time delays, motivated by the gene expression process, can also greatly affect the behaviour of reaction-diffusion systems.

Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) trajectories predict survival in trifluridine/tipiracil‐treated metastatic colorectal cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The authors applied joint/mixed models that predict mortality of trifluridine/tipiracil‐treated metastatic colorectal cancer patients based on circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) trajectories. Patients at high risk of death could be spared aggressive therapy with the prospect of a higher quality of life in their remaining lifetime, whereas patients with a ...
