Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Distributed Ellipsoidal Intersection Fusion Estimation for Multi-Sensor Complex Systems
This paper investigates the problem of distributed ellipsoidal intersection (DEI) fusion estimation for linear time-varying multi-sensor complex systems with unknown input disturbances and measurement data transmission delays.

Distributed anonymous function computation in information fusion and multiagent systems
We propose a model for deterministic distributed function computation by a network of identical and anonymous nodes, with bounded computation and storage capabilities that do not scale with the network size.

Moments of fusion-barrier distributions
A study of fusion-barrier distributions through an analysis of their moments is presented. The moments can be obtained from least-squares fits of the energy-weighted fusion cross sections without the need of calculating second derivatives. The zeroth and first moments determine the fusion radius $R$ and the Coulomb barrier ${V}_{C}$.

Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

A Fault-Tolerant Detection Fusion Strategy for Distributed Multisensor Systems
The distributed detection fusion formulation (DDFF) in ideal multisensor systems has been studied over the last two decades. If some local sensors cannot work normally, the detection performance of system may reduce significantly.

A New Approach to Linear/Nonlinear Distributed Fusion Estimation Problem
Disturbance noises are always bounded in a practical system, while fusion estimation is to best utilize multiple sensor data containing noises for the purpose of estimating a quantity--a parameter or process.

Self-stabilizing Distributed Data Fusion [PDF]
The Theory of Belief Functions is a formal framework for reasoning with uncertainty that is well suited for representing unreliable information and weak states of knowledge. In information fusion applications, it is mainly used in a centralized way, by gathering the data on a single node before computation.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
