Distributed Kalman filtering with reduced transmission rate

open access: yes2017 IEEE International Conference on Multisensor Fusion and Integration for Intelligent Systems (MFI), 2017
The centralized Kalman filter can be implemented in such a way that the required calculations can be distributed over multiple nodes in a network, each of which processes only the locally acquired sensor data. The main downside of this implementation is that it requires each distributed sensor node to communicate with the fusion center in every time ...

The benefits of a hybrid‐3DEnVar data assimilation scheme for the convection‐permitting NWP model AROME–Austria

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
The climatological‐error covariance matrix used in three‐dimensional variational data assimilation (3DVar) provides smooth and isotropic increments spread to long distances. In contrast, three‐dimensional ensemble variational data assimilation (3DEnVar) with a purely ensemble‐error covariance matrix provides inhomogeneous increments and contains the ...

The Extended Kalman-Consensus Filter

open access: yes, 2011
An algorithm called the extended Kalman-Consensus filter is developed as an extension of the Kalman-Consensus filter to the non-linear case. The extended Kalman- Consensus filter is a technique for estimating the state of a non-linear process disturbed ...

Probability hypothesis density filtering for real-time traffic state estimation and prediction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The probability hypothesis density (PHD) methodology is widely used by the research community for the purposes of multiple object tracking. This problem consists in the recursive state estimation of several targets by using the information coming from an

Impact of data assimilation on Arctic sea‐ice thickness variability and its coupling with atmospheric forcing

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
We document for the first time how the assimilation of CS2SMOS observations improves the model representation of Arctic sea‐ice thickness (SIT) and its variability: biases are reduced (top row), while excessive variability in the Beaufort Sea and lack of variability in the ice pack are both corrected (bottom row).

Initial State Privacy of Nonlinear Systems on Riemannian Manifolds

open access: yesInternational Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this paper, we investigate initial state privacy protection for discrete‐time nonlinear closed systems. By capturing Riemannian geometric structures inherent in such privacy challenges, we refine the concept of differential privacy through the introduction of an initial state adjacency set based on Riemannian distances.

Probabilistic localization in sensor networks using distributed Kalman Filter

open access: yes, 2010
In recent years sensor networks have interested fields such as environment monitoring, surveillance and other distributed applications for data elaboration. This interest has been based on the decentralized approach in treating the information.

Control System for the Navigation of the Agricultural Robots: A Review

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Control systems for the navigation of autonomous agricultural robots—particularly those operating in uneven terrain and in the presence of static or dynamic obstacles—have advanced considerably in recent years. As conventional machinery evolves toward increasingly automated systems, the design of reliable navigation controllers has become ...
