A state-based potential game approach for distributed voltage regulation in distribution networks
With the increasing penetration rate of renewable energy sources over recent years, voltage fluctuations and violations due to the inherent intermittency of renewable energy sources pose a great challenge to the safe and steady operation of distribution ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Optimal Pricing for MHR Distributions [PDF]
We study the performance of anonymous posted-price selling mechanisms for a standard Bayesian auction setting, where n bidders have i.i.d. valuations for a single item. We show that for the natural class of Monotone Hazard Rate (MHR) distributions, offering the same, take-it-or-leave-it price to all bidders can achieve an (asymptotically) optimal ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Locational Pricing to Mitigate Voltage Problems Caused by High PV Penetration
In this paper, a locational marginal pricing algorithm is proposed to control the voltage in unbalanced distribution grids. The increasing amount of photovoltaic (PV) generation installed in the grid may cause the voltage to rise to unacceptable levels ...

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

A Distributed Demand Side Energy Management Algorithm for Smart Grid
This paper proposes a model predictive control (MPC) framework-based distributed demand side energy management method (denoted as DMPC) for users and utilities in a smart grid. The users are equipped with renewable energy resources (RESs), energy storage

On the Distributions of Optimized Multiscale Representations [PDF]
Adapted wavelet analysis of signals is achieved by optimizing a selected criterion. We previously introduced a majorization framework for constructing selection functionals, which can be as well suited to compression as to entropy or other methods. We show how these functionals operate on the basis selection and their effect on the statistics of the ...
