Direct parameter identification of distributed parameter systems [PDF]
A new direct approach to identifying the parameters of distributed parameter systems from noise-corrupted data is introduced. The model of the system which takes the form of a set of linear or nonlinear partial differential equations is assumed known with the exception of a set of constant parameters.

The wave equation as a port-Hamiltonian system and a finite-dimensional approximation [PDF]
The problem of approximating a distributed parameter system with free boundary conditions is solved for the 2-dimensional wave equation. To this end we first model the wave equation as a distributed-parameter port-Hamiltonian system.

A Two-Threshold Model for Scaling Laws of Non-Interacting Snow Avalanches
The sizes of snow slab failure that trigger snow avalanches are power-law distributed. Such a power-law probability distribution function has also been proposed to characterize different landslide types.

Hamiltonian formulation of distributed-parameter systems with boundary energy flow [PDF]
A Hamiltonian formulation of classes of distributed-parameter systems is presented, which incorporates the energy flow through the boundary of the spatial domain of the system, and which allows to represent the system as a boundary control Hamiltonian ...

ABSTRACT Ongoing evidence indicates increased risk of sarcopenic obesity among children and young people (CYP) with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), often beginning early in treatment, persisting into survivorship. This review evaluates current literature on body composition in CYP with ALL during and after treatment.

MMC‐HVDC AC side line protection based on positive sequence fault component current ratio
The high‐voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission based on modular multilevel converter shows the weak feed characteristic of limited fault current amplitude when connected to the traditional AC power grid, which leads to the risk of sensitivity ...

Identification of Parameters in Distributed Parameter Systems by Regularization [PDF]
The authors investigate the parameter identification problem for distributed parameter systems. The problem of parameter identification in distributed parameter systems from noisy data is both nonlinear and ill- posed. They develop the concept of regularization, which is widely used in solving linear Fredholm integral equations, for the identification ...

Port-Hamiltonian formulation of shallow water equations with Coriolis force and topography [PDF]
We look into the problem of approximating the shallow water equations with Coriolis forces and topography. We model the system as an infinite-dimensional port-Hamiltonian system which is represented by a non-constant Stokes-Dirac structure. We here employ

ABSTRACT Introduction Cognitive impairment and exercise intolerance are common in dialysis patients. Cerebral perfusion and oxygenation play a major role in both cognitive function and exercise execution; HD session per se aggravates cerebral ischemia in this population. This study aimed to compare cerebral oxygenation and perfusion at rest and in mild
