A Novel Dynamic Event-Triggered Mechanism for Distributed Secondary Control in Islanded AC Microgrids

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
In this paper, the frequency/voltage restoration and active power sharing problems of islanded AC microgrids are studied. A novel distributed dynamic event-triggered secondary control scheme is proposed to reduce the communication burden.

Distributed Secondary Control for Islanded Microgrids—A Novel Approach [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2014
This paper presents a novel approach to conceive the secondary control in droop-controlled MicroGrids. The conventional approach is based on restoring the frequency and amplitude deviations produced by the local droop controllers by using a MicroGrid Central Controller (MGCC).

Distributed Secondary Control for Islanded Microgrids Considering Communication Delays

open access: yesIEEE Access
A distributed control of a Microgrid (MG) depends on the communication network for the exchange of information among the Distributed Generators (DGs). Most of the control schemes consider ideal communication among the DGs; however, in practical systems ...

Distributed Secondary Control Method for Islanded Microgrids With Communication Constraints

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
In this paper, a two-layer model for islanded microgrids with communication constraints is proposed, where a key component of the model is a top layer communication network composed of agents over the bottom layer microgrid.

Distributed Secondary Control of a Microgrid With A Generalized PI Finite-Time Controller [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Open Access Journal of Power and Energy, 2021
This paper proposes a novel distributed secondary controller for droop-controlled microgrids to regulate the frequency and voltage, and autonomously share the power mismatch.

A Comprehensive Review of the State-of-the-Art of Secondary Control Strategies for Microgrids

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
The proliferation of distributed energy resources in distribution systems has given rise to a new concept known as Microgrids (MGs). The effective control of MGs is a crucial aspect that needs to be prioritized before undertaking any implementation ...

Distributed Secondary Control in Microgrids Using Synchronous Condenser for Voltage and Frequency Support

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
A high share of distributed energy resources (DERs) in power distribution grids has posed many challenges for system operation and control. Microgrid (MG) application with different distributed control approaches for DERs has been drawn a lot of ...

An Enhanced Distributed State Feedback for Secondary Control in an Islanded Microgrid [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Industrial Electronics, Control and Optimization, 2022
This paper applies a new state feedback control to a distributed secondary voltage and frequency control in an islanded microgrid. The problem is focused on the output consensus of the multi-agent systems, which is converted to a first-order dynamic ...

Further results on distributed secondary control in microgrids [PDF]

open access: yes52nd IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2013
This work presents several analysis and design results for primary droop control and secondary control in inductive microgrids. Building on our recent work, we study the problem of set point design in droop-controlled microgrids, and provide a choice of droop coefficients leading to the desired power flows.

Data-Driven Secondary Control of Distributed Energy Resources

open access: yesCoRR, 2021
In this paper, we present a data-driven secondary controller for regulating to some desired values several variables of interest in a power system, namely, electrical frequency, voltage magnitudes at critical buses, and active power flows through critical lines. The power generation system is based on distributed energy resources (DERs) interfaced with
