Robust Distributed Source Coding [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2008
We consider a distributed source coding system in which several observations are communicated to the decoder using limited transmission rate. The observations must be separately coded. We introduce a robust distributed coding scheme which flexibly trades off between system robustness and compression efficiency.

Image Authentication Using Distributed Source Coding [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2012
We present a novel approach using distributed source coding for image authentication. The key idea is to provide a Slepian-Wolf encoded quantized image projection as authentication data. This version can be correctly decoded with the help of an authentic image as side information.

Distributed Source Coding and Its Applications in Relaying-Based Transmission

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2016
Distributed source coding (DSC) schemes rely on separate encoding but joint decoding of statistically dependent sources, which exhibit correlation. DSC has numerous promising applications ranging from reduced-complexity handheld video communications to ...

Separating distributed source coding from network coding [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2006
This correspondence considers the problem of distributed source coding of multiple sources over a network with multiple receivers. Each receiver seeks to reconstruct all of the original sources. The work by Ho et al. 2004 demonstrates that random network coding can solve this problem at the potentially high cost of jointly decoding the source and the ...

Distributed Joint Source Coding and Trellis Coded Modulation for Symbol-Based Markov Sources [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2018
A distributed joint source-channel coding scheme based on a unity-rate code (URC) assisted trellis coded modulation (TCM) is proposed, which exploits the spatiotemporal correlation of symbol-based sources. More specifically, asymmetric distributed source coding of two spatially correlated Markov sources is considered, where one of the sources is ...

Distributed Joint Source-Channel Coding-Based Adaptive Dynamic Network Coding

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Distributed Source Coding (DSC) schemes rely on separate encoding but joint decoding of statistically dependent sources, which exhibit correlation. More specifically, Distributed Joint Source-Channel coding (DJSC) is associated with the scenario, where ...

Rateless Distributed Source Code Design [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 5th International Mobile Multimedia Communications Conference, 2009
Over the past decade, rateless codes, i.e., digital fountain codes, have emerged as an efficient and robust solution for reliable data transmission over packet erasure networks and a particularly suitable one for multicasting and broadcasting applications where users may experience variable channel conditions and packet loss rates, such as mobile ...

Distributed Source Coding Techniques for Lossless Compression of Hyperspectral Images

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2007
This paper deals with the application of distributed source coding (DSC) theory to remote sensing image compression. Although DSC exhibits a significant potential in many application fields, up till now the results obtained on real signals fall short of

Reduced-Complexity Optimization of Distributed Quantization Using the Information Bottleneck Principle

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society, 2021
This paper addresses the optimization of distributed compression in a sensor network. A direct communication among the sensors is not possible so that noisy measurements of a single relevant signal have to be locally compressed in order to meet the rate ...

Polar codes for distributed source coding [PDF]

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2013
A polar coding method to construct a distributed source coding scheme which can achieve any point on the dominant face of the Slepian‐Wolf rate region for sources with uniform marginals is proposed.
