Distributed Computing for Conglomerate Mathematical Systems

2003
This work is informed by two important schools of thought in distributed computing: computational grids and web services. We use the main ideas from these disciplines to give a conceptual framework for conglomerate mathematical systems which are distributed over the Internet.

Basics in Mathematics and Distributed Algorithms

2012
In this chapter, we study briefly the mathematical foundations for building self-organizing mechanical systems. First, we discuss diffusion dynamics in a physical continuum, and then introduce reaction-diffusion systems that generate spatial patterns, and cellular automaton models which behave like those continuous systems in discrete state, space and ...

A mathematical model for the age distribution of cancer in man

International Journal of Cancer, 1969
AbstractIncidence data that have been collected by cancer registries in different parts of the world provide an opportunity for examining the relationship between cancer incidence and age on a wider scale and more accurately than has been possible before.

Mathematical modelling of distributed feed in continuous sedimentation

Simulation Modelling Practice and Theory, 2006
Abstract One-dimensional modelling of continuous sedimentation process is considered in this paper. The process is described by a scalar conservation law in the form of a partial differential equation. A new way of modelling the feed section of the continuous settler is proposed.

JOME, a software component for interactive and distributed mathematics

ACM SIGSAM Bulletin, 2000
JOME (Java OpenMath Editor) is a self-contained software component written in Java (as a Java Bean), dedicated to the visualisation and manipulation of mathematical formulæ. Conceptually based on the well-known Model-View-Controller (MVC) design pattern, JOME naturally ...

Mathematical models of vocal tract with distributed sources

2003 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2003. Proceedings. (ICASSP '03)., 2003
Frequency domain models for the vocal tract with distributed sources are introduced. Pressure and volume velocity distributed sources are modeled within incremental lossy cylindrical pipes in a manner similar to that of modeling electrical components. Equations for transmission matrices of uniform-area vocal tract sections with distributed sources are ...
