The distribution of COVID‐19–related risks [PDF]

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Economics/Revue canadienne d'économique, 2021
AbstractWe document two COVID‐19–related risks, viral risk and employment risk, and their distributions across the Canadian population. The measurement of viral risk is based on the VSE COVID‐19 Risk/Reward Assessment Tool, created to assist policy‐makers in determining the impacts of pandemic‐related economic shutdowns and re‐openings.

Maximum Spectral Measures of Risk with Given Risk Factor Marginal Distributions [PDF]

open access: yesMathematics of Operations Research, 2020
We consider the problem of determining an upper bound for the value of a spectral risk measure of a loss that is a general nonlinear function of two factors whose marginal distributions are known but whose joint distribution is unknown. The factors may take values in complete separable metric spaces. We introduce the notion of Maximum Spectral Measure

ORDERING OF RISKS AND WEIGHTED COMPOUND DISTRIBUTIONS [PDF]

open access: yesStatistica Neerlandica, 1986
Abstract. Some invariance properties of net stop loss ordering of risks are examined and proved in the framework of weighted compound distributions.

SEISMIC RISK ANALSYSIS OF DISTRIBUTION LINEAR INFRASTRUCTURES

open access: yesProceedings of the 8th International Conference on Computational Methods in Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering (COMPDYN 2015), 2023
Natural Gas distribution networks are fundamental elements for the socio-economical devel-opment of region and of an entire country. Their vulnerability with respect to the so-called NaTech events can imply significant consequences both in terms of physical damage in the area surrounding the infrastructure and in terms of service interruption, as ...

The Distributed Liability of Distributed Ledgers: Legal Risks of Blockchain [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2017
The transformative potential of distributed ledger technology, especially in the financial sector, is attracting enormous interest. Many financial institutions are investing heavily in proof of concept demonstrations and the rollout of pilot applications of DLT technology.

Semi-Competing Risks on A Trivariate Weibull Survival Model

open access: yes, 2008
A setting of a trivairate survival function using semi-competing risks concept is proposed. The Stanford Heart Transplant data is reanalyzed using a trivariate Weibull distribution model with the proposed survival ...

Fair risk optimization of distributed systems

open access: yesAnnals of Operations Research
Abstract The paper provides a framework for the assessment and optimization of the total risk of complex distributed systems. The framework takes into account the risk of each agent, which may arise from heterogeneous sources, as well as the risk associated with the efficient operation of the system as a whole. The challenges posed by
