Enabling High-Power Conditioning and High-Voltage Bus Integration Using Series-Connected DC Transformers in Spacecrafts

open access: yesAerospace
This article proposes a photovoltaic power processor for high-voltage and high-power distribution bus, between 300 V and 900 V, to be used in future space platforms like large space stations or lunar bases.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Modelling the loss of nitrification inhibitor dosed in water distribution systems subject to pipe corrosion

open access: yes, 2012
Copper sulphate dosed as a nitrifier inhibitor in water distribution systems has encountered dramatic loss due to iron pipe corrosion. Chosen as the representative of iron corrosion products, ferric hydroxide flocs at low concentration (

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

FLOATING NEUTRAL DETECTION USING A FORM 2S METER: LARGE DISTRIBUTION LINES WITH MULTIPLE HOUSES AND ROOFTOP PV EFFECT

open access: yes, 2023
Publisher Copyright: © The Institution of Engineering and Technology 2023.Different concerns about power quality (PQ) arise in electricity distribution systems that use the single-phase three-wire system (120 V/240 V).

Timers for Distributed Systems

open access: yesElectronic Notes in Theoretical Computer Science, 2006
AbstractWe deal with temporal aspects of distributed systems, introducing and studying a new model called timed distributed π-calculus. This model extends distributed π-calculus with timers, transforming the communication channels into temporary resources. Distributed π-calculus describes located interactions between processes with restricted access to

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

An Enhanced Load Transfer Scheme for Power Distribution Systems Connected with Distributed Generation Sources

open access: yes, 2012
[[abstract]]This paper presents an enhanced load transfer scheme for power distribution systems connected with distributed generation sources. Load transfer is an important approach to improve the reliability of power distribution systems.
