A review on solid-state transformer: A breakthrough technology for future smart distribution grids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
The modern power systems have now prompted the practice of power electronics-based converters for power conversion purposes, which has emerged a solid-state device named as solid-state transformer (SST).

Performance evaluation of natural esters and dielectric correlation assessment using artificial neural network (ANN) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Dielectrics, 2020
The performance of correlation between the dielectric parameters of Baobab Oil (BAO) and Mongongo Oil (MGO) is evaluated using Artificial Neural Network (ANN). The BAO and MGO naturally own high Unsaturated Fatty Acids (UFAs) and are highly biodegradable.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Three-dimensional thermal modelling of transformers in transformer room for spatial and temporal failure analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Temperature is a key factor for failure analysis of power transformers. Conventionally, transformer failure rate is calculated with hot spot temperature induced from IEEE empirical equations. This article firstly introduces a spatial and temporal related

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Study on Operation Parameter Characteristics of Induction Filter Distribution Transformer in Low-Voltage Distribution Network

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
There is a need for induction filter technology in the field of low-voltage distribution networks. This paper proposes an induction filter distribution transformer with a unique Dd0yn11 three-winding configuration. This approach allows for the control of

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Power Flow Model for Medium-voltage Distribution Systems Considering Measurement and Structure Characteristics

open access: yesJournal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy
Medium-voltage distribution systems (MVDSs) mainly consist of a feeder head, lines, distribution transformers, and the equivalent load or power supply interfaced with the distribution transformers.

An Electric Vehicle Charge Scheduling Approach Suited to Local and Supplying Distribution Transformers

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
Distribution networks with high electric vehicle (EV) penetration levels can experience transformer overloading and voltage instability issues. A charge scheduling approach is proposed to mitigate against these issues that suits smart home settings in ...

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...
