Infants Consider the Distributor’s Intentions in Resource Allocation

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2020
Recent experimental studies suggest that preverbal infants are able to evaluate agents on the basis of their distributive actions. Here we asked whether such evaluations are based on infants’ understanding of the distributors’ intentions, or only the ...

Is an Apple an Orange? A Large Language Model Benchmark for Candidate Term Extraction and Subclass Decisions Against Upper Ontologies in Engineering and Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Building machine‐readable vocabularies for materials science is slow, expert‐driven work. This study benchmarks 13 large language models on two of its first steps: finding candidate terms in engineering articles and deciding where they belong in a class hierarchy.

Quality of schooling and political trust among students

open access: yesFrontiers in Political Science
Political trust is a fundamental component of democratic stability, yet its relationship with the quality of schooling remains underexplored. This study examines how both student-level perceptions of schooling—measured through distributive justice ...

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

A Distributed Maximal Scheduler for Strong Fairness [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Weak fairness guarantees that continuously enabled actions are executed infinitely often. Strong fairness, on the other hand, guarantees that actions that are enabled infinitely often (but not necessarily continuously) are executed infinitely often. In this paper, we present a distributed algorithm for scheduling actions for execution.
