RELATED, A FLEXIBLE APPROACH TO THE DEPLOYMENT AND CONVERSION OF DH NETWORKS TO LOW TEMPERATURE, WITH INCREASED USE OF LOCAL SOLAR SYSTEMS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
District heating (DH) systems are key systems for the de-carbonization of heating energy in European Cities. In order to allow for this transition, while guaranteeing competitive energy costs, conversion of DHs is required. DH operation temperature needs

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Development of a user-friendly mobile app for the national level promotion of the 4th generation district heating

open access: yesInternational Journal of Sustainable Energy Planning and Management, 2019
The consumers are considered to play one of the most significant roles in the district heating transition process towards the 4th generation.  Unfortunately, the lack of information and widespread consumer ignorance of interconnections and dependencies ...

Optimal Design of District Heating Networks with Distributed Thermal Energy Storages – Method and Case Study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Sustainable Energy Planning and Management, 2021
District heating systems have a great potential for supporting the energy transition towards a renewa-ble energy system, and could also be an option in less dense populated urban districts and rural communities with a medium heat density. In these cases,

An optimisation framework for thermal energy storage integration in a residential heat pump heating system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Domestic heating has a large share in the UK total energy consumption and significant contribution to the greenhouse gas emissions since it is mainly fulfilled by fossil fuels.

Proteasome inhibitor, ixazomib prevents topoisomerase‐I degradation and reverses irinotecan resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ixazomib inhibits proteasome‐mediated degradation of topoisomerase I induced by irinotecan, thereby restoring drug sensitivity and promoting tumor cell death in colorectal cancer. Irinotecan, a topoisomerase I (topoI) inhibitor, is widely used for colorectal cancer, but resistance remains a major clinical challenge.

Modular district heating system MODiS

open access: yes, 2000
MODiS (Modular District Heating System) products were developed for either building an entirely new district heating (DH) system or for renovating and extending an existing system. MODiS products comprise highly integrated prefabri-cated and pre-tested modules, where the modules themselves may be boilers, pumping stations, substations, metering devices,

Integration of solar thermal systems in existing district heating systems [PDF]

open access: yesEnergy, 2016
Modem district heating (DH) networks are usually operated with a changing flow temperature to cover the heat load of the supply area, depending on the outside temperature. Due to the minimum temperature requirements of individual customers, DH networks also need to operate during the summer months. During this time, the load on the system is relatively

Down‐regulation of Shh in the hair follicles of mice during chemotherapy‐induced hair loss is mediated by the JAK/STAT1 signaling pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We found that during chemotherapy‐induced alopecia (CIA), Sonic hedgehog (Shh) expression significantly decreased in hair follicle Shh+ cells, whereas the Janus‐activated kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription 1 (JAK/STAT1) signaling pathway was markedly activated.

Design and Performance Comparison of District Heating Systems in Milan and Riga

open access: yesEnvironmental and Climate Technologies
The work proposes a comparison between three heating configurations covering the demand of a new settlement: 1) centralized district heating system (DHC); 2) 5th generation district heating & cooling system (5GDHC) and 3) individual home heating and ...
