An Assessment of the Evolutionary Stability of Distyly in Hedyotis Caerulea (Rubiaceae) [PDF]
Distylous species of flowers possess two distinct floral morphs that are generally found in equal numbers in naturally occurring populations. The flower form that has a relatively long style is called a pin the form with a short style is a thrum ...

Quantitative Evaluation of Reciprocal Herkogamy in the Distylous Species, Hedyotis caerulea (Rubiaceae) [PDF]
Hedyotis caerulea possesses two distinct floral morphs that are generally found in equal numbers in naturally occurring populations. Flowers either possess a relatively long style and short anthers, called a “pin,” or a short style and long anthers ...

The Primula edelbergii S‐locus is an example of a jumping supergene
Abstract Research on supergenes, non‐recombining genomic regions housing tightly linked genes that control complex phenotypes, has recently gained prominence in genomics. Heterostyly, a floral heteromorphism promoting outcrossing in several angiosperm families, is controlled by the S‐locus supergene.

The pollination efficiency and their effects on floral morph variation of short‐tongued and long‐tongued pollinators were investigated in two Limonium myrianthum populations with short corolla tubular small flowers and considerable floral morph variation. We found that asymmetrical disassortative pollination affects floral morph variation.

Características palinológicas de las subspecies de Linum mucronatum Bertol. con heterostilia [PDF]
Linum mucronatum is a heterostylous species from sect. Syllinum with four subspecies in Iran. The present study examines palynological characteristics of the heterostylous subspecies of Linum mucronatum, pollen characters of brevistylous individuals ...

Genetic architecture and evolution of the S locus supergene in Primula vulgaris [PDF]
Darwin’s studies on heterostyly in Primula described two floral morphs, pin and thrum, with reciprocal anther and stigma heights that promote insect-mediated cross-pollination.

The Ecology Of Homostyle And Heterostyle Primroses Primula vulgaris Huds. [PDF]
Genetic theory has predicted the spread of homostyly through heterostyle populations but this has not happened over the last 40 years. This thesis compares the ecology of the three primrose morphs (pin, thrum, homostyle) to determine whether ecological ...
