Diuretic resistance and the role of albumin in congestive heart failure

open access: yesDrugs in Context, 2023
Diuresis with loop diuretics is the mainstay treatment for volume optimization in patients with congestive heart failure, in which perfusion and volume expansion play a crucial role.

SGLT2 inhibitor and loop diuretic induce different vasopressin and fluid homeostatic responses in nondiabetic rats

open access: greenAJP - Renal Physiology, 2022
Loop diuretics are commonly used diuretics in the treatment of fluid retention, but induce hypovolemia-related renal dysfunction. Sodium-glucose cotransporter SGLT2 inhibitors induce osmotic diuresis but body fluid volume is maintained by stimulating ...

Rationale and Design of the Efficacy of a Standardized Diuretic Protocol in Acute Heart Failure Study

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, 2021
Aims Although acute heart failure (AHF) with volume overload is treated with loop diuretics, their dosing and type of administration are mainly based upon expert opinion.

The role of diuretic hormones (DHs) and their receptors in Drosophila

open access: yesBMB Reports, 2023
Maintaining internal homeostasis and regulating innate behaviors are essential for animal survival. In various animal species, a highly conserved neuroendocrine system integrates sensory inputs and regulates physiological responses to environmental and ...

Diuretic Resistance Treated with Low-Dose Hydralazine: A Case Report and Review of the Literature

open access: yesCase Reports in Nephrology and Dialysis, 2021
We present a case of severe diuretic resistance and edema from acute cardiorenal syndrome complicating heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) and mild alcoholic liver disease.

Classic and Novel Mechanisms of Diuretic Resistance in Cardiorenal Syndrome.

open access: yesKidney360, 2022
Despite the incompletely understood multiple etiologies and underlying mechanisms, cardiorenal syndrome is characterized by decreased glomerular filtration and sodium avidity.

TMC4 localizes to multiple taste cell types in the mouse taste papillae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Transmembrane channel‐like 4 (TMC4), a voltage‐dependent chloride channel, plays a critical role in amiloride‐insensitive salty taste transduction. TMC4 is broadly expressed in all mature taste cell types, suggesting a possible involvement of multiple cell types in this pathway.

Diuretic treatment using the RenalGuard® system in patients hospitalized due to acute decompensated heart failure and characterization of the profile of patients with good and poor response to treatment — preliminary study

open access: yesCardiology Journal
BACKGROUND: The aim of the study was to analyze the potential relationship between the diuretic response, the clinical profile and the concentrations of selected biochemical markers and to identify a group of patients who will benefit from a new form of ...

Congestion and Diuretic Resistance in Acute or Worsening Heart Failure

open access: yesCardiac Failure Review, 2020
Hospitalisation for acute heart failure (AHF) is associated with high mortality and high rehospitalisation rates. In the absence of evidence-based therapy, treatment is aimed at stabilisation and symptom relief.

Improvements in Health‐Related Quality of Life With Treat‐to‐Target Urate‐Lowering Therapy in Gout: A Post Hoc Analysis of a Randomized Multicenter Trial

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Although treat‐to‐target urate‐lowering therapy (ULT) is endorsed as best practice in gout management, limited data exist on its impact on health‐related quality of life (HRQoL). We assessed the impact of treat‐to‐target ULT on HRQoL among participants receiving protocolized gout care, identifying factors associated with HRQoL and HRQoL ...
