The effects of diurnal variability and modality on false memories formation

open access: yesChronobiology International, 2023
The main objective of the current study was to investigate the effect of time of day on visual and auditory, short-term memory (STM), and long-term memory (LTM) distortions using a hybrid Deese-Roediger-McDermott procedure. In Experiment 1, we used semantically related words, whereas in Experiment 2 - words were characterized by phonological similarity.

Investigating the diurnal cycle of precipitation over Central Africa

open access: yesMeteorological Applications, 2021
The present study investigated the reliability of downscaling tool RegCM4.4 to simulate 2002–2006 June–September diurnal cycle precipitation characteristics.

Diurnal and semi‐diurnal temperature variability of the middle atmosphere, as observed by ISAMS

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 1993
Some preliminary results are presented showing that the ISAMS instrument on board the UARS satellite has detected sun‐synchronous variations in atmospheric temperature between 15–80 km altitude. These are interpreted as the westward‐migrating diurnal and semi‐diurnal tides.

Variability in phase and amplitude of diurnal rhythms is related to variation of mood in bipolar and borderline personality disorder

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
Variable mood is an important feature of psychiatric disorders. However, its measurement and relationship to objective measureas of physiology and behaviour have rarely been studied.

Hydroxyl in the stratosphere and mesosphere – Part 1: Diurnal variability [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2010
Abstract. Diurnal variations in hydroxyl (OH) in the stratosphere and mesosphere are analyzed using measurements from the Aura Microwave Limb Sounder (MLS). The primary driver for OH diurnal variations is the ultraviolet actinic flux that initiates photochemical reactions which produce OH.

Diurnal variation in variables related to cognitive performance: a systematic review [PDF]

open access: yesSleep and Breathing, 2023
Abstract Purpose The aim of this review was to assess current evidence regarding changes in cognitive function according to time-of-day (TOD) and assess the key components of research design related to manuscripts of chronobiological nature.

Diurnal Variation of Light Absorption in the Yellow River Estuary

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
Considering the influence of river discharge and strong winds, the diurnal variability of ocean optical absorption properties in the Yellow River Estuary (YRE) is quantified, using in-situ measurements. The study finds that terrestrial sources due to the

Importance of between and within Subject Variability in Extracellular Vesicle Abundance and Cargo when Performing Biomarker Analyses

open access: yesCells, 2021
Small extracellular vesicles (sEV) have emerged as a potential rich source of biomarkers in human blood and present the intriguing potential for a ‘liquid biopsy’ to track disease and the effectiveness of interventions.

Observations of diurnal and spatial variability of radiative forcing by equatorial deep convective clouds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
From geostationary satellite observations of equatorial Africa and the equatorial east Atlantic during May and June 2000 we explore the radiative forcing by deep convective cloud systems in these regions. Deep convective clouds (DCCs) are associated with

Diurnal Variability and in Vitro Stability of Carbohydrate-deficient Transferrin [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Chemistry, 1998
Transferrin isoforms with pI values ≥5.7, known as carbohydrate-deficient transferrin (CDT), are present in increased concentrations in the serum of patients with current alcohol abuse. CDT has been found to be a specific and sensitive marker for detection and monitoring of high and continual alcohol consumption (1). The clinical performance of CDT has
