The role of intratidal oscillations in sediment resuspension in a diurnal, partially mixed estuary
Using detailed observations of the mean and turbulent properties of flow, salinity and turbidity that spanned 2001/02, we examined the physical mechanisms underpinning sediment resuspension in the low-energy Swan River estuary, Western Australia. In this

Diurnal variability---time to change asthma guidelines?
Peak expiratory flow varies throughout the day in normal subjects, and this diurnal variation is increased in people with asthma.1 Current asthma guidelines recommend that diurnal variability of the peak expiratory flow rate should be calculated when diagnosing asthma and assessing its severity,2–7 including during exacerbations.34 Diurnal variability ...

Day-to-day Variability of The Migrating Diurnal Tide
The migrating diurnal tide is a westward-propagating wave with a zonal wave number one and a period of one solar day. It is one of the dominant dynamical features in the mesosphere and lower thermosphere low latitude region, and represents the largest ...

This study developed a new atmospheric correction algorithm, GeoNEX-AC, that is independent from the traditional use of spectral band ratios but dedicated to exploiting information from the diurnal variability in the hypertemporal geostationary ...

Determinants of short-period heart rate variability in the general population [PDF]
Decreased heart rate variability (HRV) is associated with a worse prognosis in a variety of diseases and disorders. We evaluated the determinants of short-period HRV in a random sample of 149 middle-aged men and 137 women from the general population ...

Recurrent Hypothermia and Autonomic Dysfunction Secondary to Shapiro Syndrome
ABSTRACT A 44‐year‐old man presented with recurrent hypothermia, diaphoresis and hypertension. Extensive investigation for infectious, inflammatory, metabolic and endocrine aetiologies was negative. MR scan of the brain demonstrated no lesions but revealed callosal dysgenesis, consistent with Shapiro syndrome.

Short-term (sub-diurnal) biological and biogeochemical processes cannot be fully captured by the current suite of polar-orbiting satellite ocean color sensors, as their temporal resolution is limited to potentially one clear image per day.

FEATURES OF SHORT-PERIOD VARIABILITY OF TOTAL ELECTRON CONTENT AT HIGH AND MIDDLE LATITUDES
The study presents the results of comparative analysis of features of a short-period (with periods of internal gravity waves) variability of total electron content (TEC) in the ionosphere at middle (Novosibirsk) and high (Norilsk) latitudes over a long ...

Designed Lewis Acid–Base Passivation for High Performance Perovskite Solar Cells
ABSTRACT Silicon's high cost and long energy payback time remain major barriers to the global expansion of solar power. In contrast, metal–halide perovskites offer abundant, solution‐processable absorbers, and have achieved efficiencies of 25%–30%, positioning them as strong competitors to silicon.
