Diurnal variations in myocardial metabolism [PDF]

open access: yesCardiovascular Research, 2008
The heart is challenged by a plethora of extracellular stimuli over the course of a normal day, each of which distinctly influences myocardial contractile function. It is therefore not surprising that myocardial metabolism also oscillates in a time-of-day dependent manner.

Tongue Strength of Older Adults Requiring Long-Term Care Varies throughout the Day

open access: yesGeriatrics, 2023
Physical performance shows approximately 30% diurnal variation; however, diurnal variation in oral function remains unclear. This study aimed to determine the diurnal variation in oral and swallowing function in older adults requiring long-term care. The

Diurnal Variation in Cyclosporine Kinetics [PDF]

open access: yesTherapeutic Drug Monitoring, 1986
Cyclosporine (CyA) is now considered a primary immunosuppressant used to prevent organ rejection in liver, kidney, and heart transplant patients (1–3). It has been recommended that the blood level of CyA be monitored in these patients to minimize the possibility of rejection due to low CyA blood concentrations or potential toxicity due to high CyA ...

Diurnal Variations of Different Cloud Types and the Relationship between the Diurnal Variations of Clouds and Precipitation in Central and East China

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2019
In this paper, the diurnal variations of various clouds are analyzed using hourly cloud observations at weather stations in China from 1985 to 2011. In combination with merged hourly precipitation data, the relationship between the diurnal variations of ...

Diurnal Variation in Root Respiration [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1962
The existence of a diurnal fluctuation in root metabolism can be deduced from several studies. While studying root respiration, Harris (13) noted a diurnal variation in the rate of CO2 production by roots of tomatoes and certain deciduous fruit trees.

Diurnal variation in swim performance remains, irrespective of training once or twice daily [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Fast swim times in morning rounds are essential to ensure qualification in evening finals. A significant time-of-day effect in swimming performance has consistently been observed, although physical activity early in the day has been postulated to reduce ...

Fluid Biomarkers of Disease Burden and Cognitive Dysfunction in Progressive Supranuclear Palsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Identifying objective biomarkers for progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) is crucial to improving diagnosis and establishing clinical trial and treatment endpoints. This study evaluated fluid biomarkers in PSP versus controls and their associations with regional 18F‐PI‐2620 tau‐PET, clinical, and cognitive outcomes.

Recurrent Hypothermia and Autonomic Dysfunction Secondary to Shapiro Syndrome

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A 44‐year‐old man presented with recurrent hypothermia, diaphoresis and hypertension. Extensive investigation for infectious, inflammatory, metabolic and endocrine aetiologies was negative. MR scan of the brain demonstrated no lesions but revealed callosal dysgenesis, consistent with Shapiro syndrome.
