Effects of Replacing Alfalfa Hay With Barley Silage in High‐Concentrate Diets: Chewing Behavior, Ruminal Fermentation, Total‐Tract Digestibility, and Milk Production of Dairy Cows in Mid‐Lactation Phase

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
We assessed lactation productivity in dairy cows when replacing alfalfa hay with barley silage. A 50% replacement increased feed intake, whereas total replacement improved nutrient conversion to milk. Barley silage can effectively replace alfalfa hay, enhancing sustainability and resilience in dairy production amid forage quality constraints and market

Diurnal variation in urodynamics of rat.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2010

Defining Optimally Safe and Effective Blood Levels of Hydroxychloroquine in Lupus: An Important Step Toward Precision Drug Monitoring

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Using a hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) dose of 5 mg/kg/day in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is associated with a higher risk of flares; HCQ blood level monitoring could be a better way to adjust the HCQ dose. We studied the upper threshold for a reference range of HCQ levels to inform routine monitoring.

Rapid Fluctuations in Earth-Currents at College [PDF]

open access: yes, 1959
An unusual type of earth-current variation is regularly observed in the College records. The phenomena consist of more or less regular fluctuations with range from a few mv/km to more than 1000 mv/km, and periods ranging upwards from 6 seconds.

An open‐label, single‐arm, dose‐escalating concentration–QT study to investigate the cardiac effects and safety of paroxetine in healthy adults

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims Paroxetine is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI), approved for treatment of major depressive disorder and anxiety disorders. Some SSRIs are known to prolong the QT interval; however, clinical evidence to establish a lack of association between paroxetine and corrected QT interval (QTc) prolongation is limited. Therefore, this

Diurnal variation of depressive symptoms

open access: yesDialogues in Clinical Neuroscience, 2008
Diurnal variation of depressive symptoms appears to be part of the core of depression. Yet, longitudinal investigation of an individual's pattern, regularity, relation to clinical state, and clinical improvement reveals little homogeneity. Morning lows, afternoon slump, evening worsening-all can occur during a single depressive episode.

Historical Climatic Fluctuations and Geographic Isolation Shaped the Phylogeographic Patterns of a Mycoheterotrophic Species in Subtropical China

open access: yesBiological Diversity, EarlyView.
Plastome and microsatellite data reveal strong population structure but low genetic diversity in the fully mycoheterotrophic herb Burmannia nepalensis across subtropical China. Multiple glacial refugia and recent population decline highlight the roles of geographic isolation, climatic history, and human disturbance in shaping the biodiversity of ...

Diurnal variation of overdense meteor echo duration and ozone [PDF]

open access: yes
The diurnal variation of the median duration of overdense sporadic radar meteor echoes is examined. The meteors recorded in August, December, and January by the Ondrejov meteor radar during the period 1958-1990 were used for the analysis.

Diurnal variation in neutrophil function

open access: yesEnvironmental Health and Preventive Medicine, 1996
Neutrophil functions, including chemotaxis, reactive oxygen species (ROS)-producing capacity of neutrophils, and serum opsonic activity were investigated in 9 young healthy male volunteers. Venous blood of these volunteers was obtained under standardized conditions at 4-h intervals over a 24-h span.
