Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

The Great Divergence Reconsidered: Or, Is it Time to Reconsider the Great Divergence Debate? [PDF]
Twenty years ago, Kenneth Pomeranz’s The Great Divergence (2000) reshaped debates over the historical causes of Europe’s rapid nineteenthcentury industrialization and economic growth. By comparing the Yangzi Delta region of China to Britain, Pomeranz asserted that Europe was not exceptionally dynamic before the nineteenth century and that its ...

Divergence Between Parametric Income Distributions
Situations often arise in which we are interested in measuring divergence between distributions over time or across regions. This paper proposes an entropy measure of divergence and derives analytical expressions for several parametric distributions ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Background The family Caryophyllaceae has traditionally been divided into three subfamilies (i.e. Alsinoideae, Caryophylloideae, Paronychioideae). However, the monophyly of each subfamily has been challenged, while boundaries, phylogenetic relationships,

A Phylogenetic Analysis Based on Whole Genome Re-Sequencing of 41 Dendrobium Species
The genus Dendrobium (Orchidaceae) is highly renowned for its great medicinal and ornamental values. However, due to morphological similarities among closely related taxa within this genus, certain species are frequently subject to misidentification and ...

Explaining the Rent-OER Inflation Divergence, 1999-2006 [PDF]
Between 1999 and 2006, there were two episodes during which inflation in the Rent index in the CPI diverged markedly from inflation in the index for Owner’s Equivalent Rent (OER); early in 2007, these series began to diverge again.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
