Stable Isotope Analysis as a Tool to Prevent Illicit Wildlife Trade of Songbirds in Brazil

Feather isotopes provide clear differences between wild and captive songbirds in Brazil. Combining multiple isotopes improved classification accuracy and revealed individuals falsely declared as captive‐bred. We review the genus Erythrocricus Schubart, 1962 based on the type material of the species Erythrocricus sanguineostriatus (Schubart, 1962). We propose a new diagnosis, redescribe the type species, and propose a new synonymy and a new combination.
