A Metal‐Free Carbon Monoxide Prodrug Suppresses Metastasis of Pancreatic and Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A metal‐free carbon monoxide (CO) prodrug, CO‐116, delivers controlled systemic CO without inhalation. CO suppresses the HRG1–heme axis, reducing intracellular heme availability. Attenuation of this pathway inhibits metastatic progression in pancreatic and triple‐negative breast cancer models.

CONDITION OF CORAL REEF, SEAGRASS AND MANGROVE IN TOURISM GARDEN OF TIWORO STRAIT, WEST MUNA REGENCY, SOUTHEAST SULAWESI

open access: yesJurnal Ilmu Kelautan Spermonde, 2019
The biodiversity of the Tiworo Strait Conservation Area (KKLD) was highly potential to be developed. But in recent years, the potential utilization has begun to lead to environmental destruction due to the use of destructive fishing gear.

Diving accidents treated at a military hospital-based recompression chamber facility in Peninsular Malaysia. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This paper describes the pattern of diving accidents treated in a military hospital-based recompression chamber facility in Peninsular Malaysia. A retrospective study was carried out to utilize secondary data from the respective hospital medical records ...

Intrinsic and extrinsic factors drive ontogeny of early-life at-sea behaviour in a marine top predator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Young animals must learn to forage effectively to survive the transition from parental provisioning to independent feeding. Rapid development of successful foraging strategies is particularly important for capital breeders that do not receive parental ...

Corals and Reef‐Dwelling Fish Regulate Carbon Storage and Cycling Processes in Coral Reef Ecosystems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Coral reefs are biodiversity hotspots, yet their role in carbon storage and cycling remains poorly understood. Using field surveys and modeling in the South China Sea, we reveal the overlooked potential of carbon storage in reef ecosystems and how reef fish, corals, and surface sediment jointly shape reef carbon reservoirs.

The influence of scuba diving experience on divers' perceptions, and its implications for managing diving destinations.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
Scuba diving experience-which can include accumulated diving experience and familiarity with a diving location-is an important descriptor of diver specialisation and behaviour.

BLENDING RESPIRATORY GAS MIXTURES [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals: Series on engineering sciences (Academy of Romanian Scientists)
The binary or ternary gas mixtures used in diving can be blended either by a successive and controlled injection of the component gases into containers of constant volume, following the pressure in the containers, or by a continuous flow mixing, with ...

Heterogeneous Wettability‐Based Construction of Two‐Phase Interfaces for Underwater Reversible Adhesion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The design employs heterogeneous wettability surfaces that construct stable oil‐water interfaces to achieve robust and rapid reversible adhesion. Linear enhancement of adhesion strength is realized through multi‐interface patterning. This adhesive enables rapid on‐demand detachment within five seconds via voltage‐induced electrolysis, offering a level ...
