Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

The divisome is a self-enhancing machine in Escherichia coli and Caulobacter crescentus

open access: yesNature Communications
During bacterial cytokinesis, polymers of the bacterial tubulin FtsZ coalesce into the Z ring to orchestrate divisome assembly and septal cell wall synthesis.

Noncommutative symmetric functions and W-polynomials

open access: yes, 2006
Let K,S,D be a division ring, an endomorphism and a S-derivation of K, respectively. In this setting we introduce generalized noncommutative symmetric functions and obtain Vieta formula and decompositions of differential operators.

Finite power-associative division rings [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1966
The author proves the well-known theorem: ``A finite strictly power-associative division ring of characteristic \(\neq 2\) is a field'' without using the classification of central simple Jordan algebras, as in Albert's proof [cf. \textit{R. D. Schafer}, An introduction to nonassociative algebras. New York etc.: Academic Press (1966; Zbl 0145.25601), p.

Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

The Kil peptide of bacteriophage λ blocks Escherichia coli cytokinesis via ZipA-dependent inhibition of FtsZ assembly.

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2014
Assembly of the essential, tubulin-like FtsZ protein into a ring-shaped structure at the nascent division site determines the timing and position of cytokinesis in most bacteria and serves as a scaffold for recruitment of the cell division machinery ...

Developing evidence‐based, cost‐effective P4 cancer medicine for driving innovation in prevention, therapeutics, patient care and reducing healthcare inequalities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The cancer problem is increasing globally with projections up to the year 2050 showing unfavourable outcomes in terms of incidence and cancer‐related deaths. The main challenges are prevention, improved therapeutics resulting in increased cure rates and enhanced health‐related quality of life.
