XPS and TEM study of W-DLC/DLC double-layered film
Thin Solid Films, 2009Abstract A double-layered film of tungsten-containing diamond-like carbon (W-DLC) and DLC, (W-DLC)/DLC, was investigated. A film of 1.6 µm in thickness was deposited onto silicon substrate. The investigate double-layered coating was deposited by using the combination of PECVD and co-sputtering of tungsten metal target.

Influence of parameters on Al/Ti-DLC/DLC selective absorber film
Surface Engineering, 2017This work explores the effects of target current and argon gas flow on structural and optical properties of Al/Ti-DLC/DLC selective absorber films used in solar-thermal conversion processes. The transmittance of DLC (diamond-like carbon) anti-reflection layer is affected by the sp2-C/sp3-C ratio in it.

Lower Emissions with DLC Coatings
MTZ worldwide, 2009With vehicle production growing annually and pressure on manufacturers to reduce vehicle emissions, innovative methods will have to be found to make engines more efficient. The PSA Group has set up with Bekaert a co operative test programme to measure the impact of Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coatings on the frictional behaviour of certain components ...

Raman analysis of DLC and Si-DLC films deposited on nitrile rubber
Surface and Coatings Technology, 2013Abstract In this study a hybrid diamond-like carbon (DLC) and silicon doped diamond-like carbon (Si-DLC), with and without Si–C interlayers, were deposited onto nitrile rubber substrates. The deposition was done in a closed field unbalanced magnetron sputtering ion plating (CFUBMSIP) rig in Ar/C4H10 plasma. A combination of visible (488 nm) and ultra-

Antibacterial activity of DLC and Ag–DLC films produced by PECVD technique
Diamond and Related Materials, 2009Abstract Diamond-like carbon (DLC) films have been the focus of extensive research in recent years due to its potential application as surface coatings on biomedical devices. Doped carbon films are also useful as biomaterials. As silver (Ag) is known to be a potent antibacterial agent, Ag–DLC films have been suggested to be potentially useful in ...

DLC/Hydroxyapatite Nanocomposites
MRS Proceedings, 2003ABSTRACTStudies of orthopaedic implant failures have shown that mechanical failure of an implant almost exclusively occurs at the biomaterial-tissue interface. Hydroxyapatite (HA) mimics the behavior of natural bone, and provides a strong, long-lasting adhesive interface between a bone replacement implant and the surrounding tissue.

Modification of electrical, optical and structural properties of DLC films through introduction of copper clusters by co-sputtering of graphite and copper targets is considered. Evidence is presented of the existence of various kinds of copper-based clusters. Their structure, size, and size-distribution function are discussed.
