Cataract surgery in patients with Fuchs’ dystrophy and corneal decompensation indicated for Descemet's membrane endothelial keratoplasty

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
The availability of corneal donor tissue is limited in most developing countries. This study evaluated whether patients with coexisting cataract and Fuchs’ dystrophy with corneal decompensation awaiting Descemet’s membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK)

DMEK – ein Update

open access: yes, 2015
Es stehen hierbei 2 Verfahren zur Verfügung, die DSAEK (Descemetstrippingendothelialkeratoplasty)[for full text, please go to the a.m ...

FXa‐Responsive Hydrogels to Craft Corneal Endothelial Lamellae

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 10, April 15, 2025.
This study introduces a sacrificial, multicomponent biohybrid hydrogel system enabling stable scaffold‐free tissue engineering. Its efficacy is demonstrated through the ex vivo development, detachment, and transplantation of human corneal endothelial lamellae, achieving clinically relevant sizes for Descemet Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty.

Long‐term mental health outcomes after corneal transplantation and potential predictors: A multicentre prospective cohort study

open access: yesOphthalmic and Physiological Optics, Volume 45, Issue 2, Page 340-351, March 2025.
Abstract Introduction To evaluate the long‐term effect of corneal transplantation on mental health outcomes and to assess potential predictors of these outcomes. Methods For this multicentre prospective cohort study, patients awaiting corneal transplantation were recruited from 11 (academic) hospitals and eye clinics in the Netherlands. Participants (n

A Systematic Review of Ocular Complications Following Different Types of Covid‐19 Vaccines

open access: yesJournal of Immunology Research, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Introduction More than 6 million deaths from the novel coronavirus, the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) infection, have prompted the development of several prophylactic vaccines of COVID‐19. This systematic review summarizes the ocular complications of various COVID‐19 vaccinations, diseases diagnosed, treatment, and risk factors.
