Effects of the nitrification inhibitor 3,4-dimethylpyrazole phosphate (DMPP) on abundance and activity of ammonia oxidizers in soil

open access: yes, 2014
International audienceRecent evidence from several environments suggest that besides autotrophic ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB), ammonia-oxidizing archaea (AOA) are also able to perform the oxidation of NH4 (+) to NO2 (-), although the relative ...

DMPP-evoked increases in postganglionic sympathetic nerve activity and blood pressure occurs by two mechanisms in the rat

open access: yes, 1997
1. Intravenous administration of the ganglionic nicotinic receptor agonist DMPP (1,1-dimethyl-4-phenylpiperazinium iodide) into urethane-anaesthetized rats evoked dose-dependent increases in mean arterial pressure (MAP) and renal sympathetic nerve ...

Influence of different nitrogen rates and DMPP nitrification inhibitor on annual N2O emissions from a subtropical wheat–maize cropping system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Global cereal production will need to increase by 50% to 70% to feed a world population of about 9 billion by 2050. This intensification is forecast to occur mostly in subtropical regions, where warm and humid conditions can promote high NO losses from ...

Soil N2O emission and microbial activity in a potato cropping fertilized with DMPP-added nitrogen fertilizers.

open access: yes, 2014
In this work we evaluated the effects of 3,4-dimethylphyrazole phosphate (DMPP), a nitrification inhibitor, on N2O emission and microbial activity of a soil cropped to potato in Southern Italy. The experiment consisted in two treatments applied: control (

Tropical dairy pasture yield and nitrogen cycling: effect of urea application rate and a nitrification inhibitor, DMPP

open access: yes, 2016
In tropical dairy production systems, where high rates of urea fertiliser are applied, little is known about nitrogen (N) fertiliser response, fertiliser-use efficiency and losses to the environment.

Does Drought Regulate DMPP Effectiveness in Alleviating Maize Manganese and Phosphorus Deficiencies in High-pH Soils?

open access: yesNitrogen
Drought will likely become more frequent and intense in Europe due to climate change, which may worsen Mn2+ and P deficiencies found in high pH soils.

Effects of Nicotine, DMPP and McN-A-343 Administered into the AV Node Artery of the Dog

open access: yesThe Tohoku Journal of Experimental Medicine, 1970
The perfusion of the AV node artery in eight dogs in situ was performed under constant pressure of 100mm Hg. Ganglionic stimulating agents, i.e., nicotine, DMPP and McN-A-343 were administered into the AV node artery. Doses above 3μg of nicotine always induced complete AV block.

Yield of spring wheat under the application of nitrogen fertilizers containing a nitrification inhibitor [PDF]

open access: yesBIO Web of Conferences
The present study assessed the efficacy of nitrogen fertilizers and the nitrification inhibitor 3.4-dimethylpyrazole phosphate (DMPP) in the cultivation of spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) on sod-podzolic light loam soil in the Central Non-Chernozem ...

Mitigation of N₂O emissions from surface-irrigated cropping systems using water management and the nitrification inhibitor DMPP

open access: yes, 2016
Soils under irrigated agriculture are a significant source of nitrous oxide (N2O) owing to high inputs of nitrogen (N) fertiliser and water. This study investigated the potential for N2O mitigation by manipulating the soil moisture deficit through ...

Effects of soil properties on urea-N transformation and efficacy of nitrification inhibitor 3, 4-dimethypyrazole phosphate (DMPP)

open access: yes, 2022
Ammonia (NH3) and nitrate (NO3−) are two major sources of N loss during the urea-N transformation process in soil. 3, 4-dimethypyrazole phosphate (DMPP) is a nitrification inhibitor that could effectively limit the NO3 – production process but aggravate ...
