Detection of HBV Covalently Closed Circular DNA

open access: yesViruses, 2017
Chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection affects approximately 240 million people worldwide and remains a serious public health concern because its complete cure is impossible with current treatments.

Tonic signaling of the B‐cell antigen‐specific receptor is a common functional hallmark in chronic lymphocytic leukemia cell phosphoproteomes at early disease stages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
B‐cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B‐CLL) and monoclonal B‐cell lymphocytosis (MBL) show altered proteomes and phosphoproteomes, analyzed using mass spectrometry, protein microarrays, and western blotting. Identifying 2970 proteins and 316 phosphoproteins, including 55 novel phosphopeptides, we reveal BCR and NF‐kβ/STAT3 signaling in disease ...

Photosensitivity and heat resistance conferred by BrdU incorporation upon a thymidine kinase-deficient mouse cell line with persistent mitochondrial enzyme activity [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
The selective incorporation of 5-bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) into mitochondrial DNA (mit-DNA) in the LM(TK-) ClID cell line, a thymidine kinase-deficient derivative of L fibroblasts with persistent mitochondrial enzyme activity, has been utilized to ...

Determination of ADP/ATP translocase isoform ratios in malignancy and cellular senescence

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The individual functions of three isoforms exchanging ADP and ATP (ADP/ATP translocases; ANTs) on the mitochondrial membrane remain unclear. We developed a method for quantitatively differentiating highly similar human ANT1, ANT2, and ANT3 using parallel reaction monitoring. This method allowed us to assess changes in translocase levels during cellular

Corrigendum: Sound Packing DNA: packing open circular DNA with low-intensity ultrasound

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2015
Supercoiling DNA (folding DNA into a more compact molecule) from open circular forms requires significant bending energy. The double helix is coiled into a higher order helix form; thus it occupies a smaller footprint. Compact packing of DNA is essential

Evaluation of KRAS and NRAS mutations in metastatic colorectal cancer: an 8‐year study of 10 754 patients in Turkey

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This nationwide study evaluated KRAS and NRAS mutations in 10 754 Turkish patients with metastatic colorectal cancer. The results revealed a mutation frequency of 51.1%, with 46.6% having KRAS mutations, 4.5% having NRAS mutations, and 48.5% being wild‐type for both.

Systematic profiling of cancer‐fibroblast interactions reveals drug combinations in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Fibroblasts, cells in the tumor environment, support ovarian cancer cell growth and alter morphology and drug response. We used fibroblast and cancer cell co‐culture models to test 528 drugs and discovered new drugs for combination treatment. We showed that adding Vorinostat or Birinapant to standard chemotherapy may improve drug response, suggesting ...

Vegetative λ DNA: III. Pulse-labeled Components [PDF]

open access: yes, 1968
The structures of λ DNA labeled during short pulses of [^3H]thymine at various times after infection have been studied by ultracentrifugal analysis. Circular DNA's, both the supercoiled form and an open form, are the main DNA components synthesized in ...

Optical Identification of a DNA-Wrapped Carbon Nanotube: Signs of Helically Broken Symmetry

open access: yes, 2008
High intrinsic mobility and small, biologically-compatible size make single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) in demand for the next generation of electronic devices.
